It's increasingly clear that the Admirals, Mihawk, and BB are conquerors too.
The question is just how different is Shanks' level of portrayal for oda to have him commanding these all to stop in the middle of the war as tho it were nothing?🤔
He infact never surpassed him. Itachi has a very particular set of skills that allow him to cheese 99% of the verse as most people don't have an answer to ALL his skills ( even fewer folk do in cross verse) Kakashi is not in thar 1%.
If their thoughts are linked he wouldn't want to give boruto spoilers about that "future". Might accidentally help him out.
Naruto is nowhere near as well written as Sasuke lol what.He is at best an above average MC in shonen if we are being extremely EXTREMELY generous. Sasuke is in contention to be the most well written character in the entire series. The only one thats competing with him is Itachi
Yeah I mean the fact that not every blade is a sword & yet every blade can be a black blade. Wb uses a blade doesn't have a black blade and is above Mihawk.
Just one of many undeniable truths that pit holes in their argument for swordsmanship and the title

The pure swordsmanship thing has always been bizarre just because oda suggested that's it's a thing but never dives into it. A very vague an meaningless system that only does negative things for Zoros goals. There is no substantive difference between WB weapon and other blades and the fact that they are in the same classification is ridiculous. It really is a truly meaningless goal in the context of the world and systems . Hoped oda would flesh it out in wano , but we are still waiting.

Watching this for the first time live what an experience i couldn’t even put into words. Even w the lackluster ending it was still a S tier series. May have to do a rewatch

Good season. Nowhere near as good as S1.
I think Roman being such an NPC for a MC held it back. That and the lack of continuity. Each season being a one and done story doesn't help build attachment to the show.
Some good points. The key takeaway should be watching what Oda is doing with king, Imu and mr1 and understanding that this is a clear set up for later when Oda stops baiting the topic. As all Swordsman talks inevitably lead back to Shanks vs Mihawk.

Summary:
Mihawk is the stronger pure swordsman.
He has the title, the permanent Black Blade, superior blade skill, and the narrative support that comes with them. Zoro’s recent CoC applications being framed as sword skills further supports that CoC-coded techniques belong in the swordsmanship domain for pure swordsmen.
Those points stand.
Shanks, however, is not defined solely by pure swordsmanship.
Like Law with his Devil Fruit and King with his flames, his most distinctive tools are applications of a different power system in his case, extreme and creative Haki, for which the sword often serves as a medium rather than the source of power. The series has already shown that “uses a sword” and “pure swordsman” are not the same thing.
Until we see the full extent of what top-tier Haki can do, the cleanest reading remains that Shanks is a Haki specialist of the highest order who happens to fight with a sword, not a pure swordsman whose ceiling is defined by the World’s Strongest Swordsman title.
Both characters can be exceptional in their respective domains without one fully encompassing the other.
I hope I’ve managed to clearly articulate my perspective and that of many other Shanks fans, as these serve as strong counterarguments to the claims centered on "swordsmanship skills" and the title of "World’s Strongest Swordsman."
While I doubt that Vista is stronger than Law, it is entirely plausible that Law could defeat himeven if Vista possesses superior swordsmanship skills and is, technically, the "stronger" swordsman.
The same applies to Shanks; we still don’t know what his "all-out" combat style looks like. Oda clearly intends for us to see how Shanks actually fights. The example of King is the ultimate argument demonstrating that someone who carries a sword and even executes their final attack using that sword is not necessarily a "swordsman."
His "Imperial Wings" technique is not a swordsmanship skill; rather, the sword serves merely as a conduit to focus his flames before unleashing them all at once.
In this same vein, Shanks likely treats his sword as a secondary tool, using it to facilitate his primary combat abilities, much like Law or King.
A reason why Oda could bodly said that Mihawk is the stronger swordman without exactly having Mihawk over Shanks.
Shanks will end up stronger, with the better feats...
End :)
We gotta talk more about how this dude is a non factor in boruto when his abilities could change 99% of the plot. I mean he never gave up on his dream so his input on recent events would be sooo interesting but yeah He just doesn't get screentime for whatever reason 😭
