Charlotte Ann Nauslar was born May 7 at 11:59pm weighing 6 lbs 10 oz. My wife and I couldn’t be happier and we still can’t believe she’s here and ours. Also Charlotte did her dad proud by being born in a tornado watch

Here is the radar view from the other side showing these two plume cores:
#MillFire showing a bifurcated plume and counter rotating vortex structure. The plume on lookers right is doing the anti-cyclonic corkscrew, the one on the left is weakly cyclonic. Similar dynamics contributed to the #LoyaltonFire's evolution.

🌡️Today tied for the second hottest day on record in Boise. If the low of 82 holds (which it should) the average temperature of 94 (106/82) ties with July 13, 2002 and is second only to July 25, 1891, which saw an average temperature of 96 (109/83). #idwx

Thanks to @NickyNaus for pointing out this footage, which shows some plume rotation (likely part of the cyclonic branch of the tilted over counter rotating vortex pair) and extreme fire behavior from the #FallsFire on July 17 youtu.be/5rd87R9_WHI?si=R3-8…

Today will feature mild temperatures, strong wind & then a strong cold front with snow levels falling to the valley floors. Brief heavy rain/snow/graupel & thunder possible along the cold front today. Damaging winds probable today, with downed trees/powerlines & difficult travel.

The Smokehouse Creek fire and others merged into the second largest fire in Texas's history over the course of the last two days.
The fires are highlighted in white, while clouds are dark grey or blue.
Wildfires in the Texas Panhandle and NW OK are finally showing signs of slowing but still growing southward. RH increasing to 40-60% and temps falling into 30s and 40s behind the cold front will continue to help slow growth #txwx #okwx #wildfires
Wildfire in eastern OK Panhandle spread southward after frontal passage. West to north wind shift and 40+ mph wind gusts behind front. While temps decrease/RH increases behind front, due to fuels/amount of fire in TX Panhandle, fires will spread southward as massive flaming front
Wildfires continue to rip ahead of approaching cold front. Westerly wind gusts 50-60+ mph, RH 15-20%, and temps in the 70s and 80s. Northerly wind shift incoming (fire flank becomes head fire) but RH/temps should rise/decrease quickly #txwx #okwx #wildfires

This is pretty amazing graph when you think about it. Days since the last 1" or greater rainfall event. Alexandria, LA and Jackson, MS have gone 7 MONTHS in this streak. Chances increasing this gets broken before years end.
Thanks @jillbowx for updating and @MeaganMasseyWX for making.

Years ago, my friend Michael Reeder @MonashEAE invited me to spend a couple months in Australia to work on “something to do with fires”.
We ended up modeling pyroCbs and, while we made a lot of simplifications, I really like the work we did back then.
