We then correlated motivational factor with brain activity across tasks, showing general collapse of activity in pgACC with motiv. collapse. Stimulation of same region improves motivation by reducing disengagement showing that this region causally contributes to task engagement!
First Jan built an elegant model in several steps. it classifies trials as disengagement, and then takes out all task specific motiv. factor (such as reward, satiety or trial number) to look at task unrelated fluctation. resid. motivations autocorr shows it fluctates slowly
Our paper on task general motivational fluctuations and collapse is out! This is part of @jangrohn PhD and was done in collaboration with @JeromeSallet , Matthew Rushworth and many others who worked tirelessly to collect the data nature.com/articles/s41467-0… more details in thread

Where i used to just google image search forever to not find what I was looking for I can now use Dal-E to either get something useful and beautiful or instead a dilluge of crazy shit that is completely unusable.
A regular reminder that I am still looking for people to join my lab (mostly PostDoc level and research engineer with experience in brain stimulation), but this time with a picture dreamt up by Dall-E. (lab website for more info: sites.google.com/view/ecc-te… )

That would be amazing but I suspect it is more likely going to have HAL's personality :
