You need to stop and read this again… Warren Buffet’s final words of advice from his very last annual letter 🥹 "One perhaps self-serving observation. I’m happy to say I feel better about the second half of my life than the first. My advice: Don’t beat yourself up over past mistakes – learn at least a little from them and move on. It is never too late to improve. Get the right heroes and copy them. You can start with Tom Murphy; he was the best. Remember Alfred Nobel, later of Nobel Prize fame, who – reportedly – read his own obituary that was mistakenly printed when his brother died and a newspaper got mixed up. He was horrified at what he read and realized he should change his behavior. Don’t count on a newsroom mix-up: Decide what you would like your obituary to say and live the life to deserve it. Greatness does not come about through accumulating great amounts of money, great amounts of publicity or great power in government. When you help someone in any of thousands of ways, you help the world. Kindness is costless but also priceless. Whether you are religious or not, it’s hard to beat The Golden Rule as a guide to behavior. I write this as one who has been thoughtless countless times and made many mistakes but also became very lucky in learning from some wonderful friends how to behave better (still a long way from perfect, however). Keep in mind that the cleaning lady is as much a human being as the Chairman." And then today, his last letter to shareholders as chairman…

🚨 New paper out! Every @Polymarket contract starts empty. No inherited book. No designated MM. No auction. We measure what it costs to trade in the first 24 hours, and it depends entirely on the event type. With Carl Jörnell and Vicente Perez. 1/🧵

1/10 days ago I posted about how Kalshi and Polymarket are scaling sports betting under the prediction market label. That thread was about what's wrong. This one is about what should be built instead.

Caruana, a natural attacking player, played the passive 3 c3 here yesterday. It would be impossible to imagine Fischer or Kasparov playing such a passive move. A thread 🧵 on how modern computers change chess in a bad way, and why I prefer Freestyle:

Huge computer science result: A Tsinghua professor JUST discovered the fastest shortest path algorithm for graphs in 40yrs. This improves on Turing award winner Tarjan’s O(m + nlogn) with Dijkstra’s, something every Computer Science student learns in college.

Elon Musk's formula for success: Ego ÷ Ability < 1⁣ ⁣ When your ego exceeds your ability, you break the feedback loop to reality. Smash your ego. Internalize responsibility. Do whatever it takes.⁣ ⁣ The goal isn't glory—it's true work that serves the most people.

Which RPC gives you the best swap prices on Ethereum? We measured it, and it's MEV Blocker ⛱️ If you’re using the wrong RPC, you're literally getting worse token output on every swap. Here’s what we found 👇

Wake up, @Google is adopting ZK. One reason ZK will be adopted is it reduces the security overhead of companies who manage large data sets of sensitive information. It is not uncommon for companies to spend 10s of billions a year protecting this data. Reduce sensitive data -> Reduct costs -> Adoption

In pursuit of product-market fit, you should be less of a data scientist and more of an anthropologist. Every week I see teams pretending to be scientists and analyzing metrics on a test group of a few hundred users who came from odd sources unrepresentative of their broader target audience — like a Discord server or a handful of friends & acquaintances. Instead, keep it simple: Your analytics dashboard should literally just be a table of users with the following columns: • Name • Registration Date • Last Active Time • Number of Sessions Then follow these steps: 1. Sort the list by Last Active Time 2. Look up the most active users on Instagram or Linkedin 3. Then interpret their behavior on your app through the lens of their online identity 4. If you have a messaging channel such as Intercom, send them a generic message asking for their feedback (and maybe offer a $25 gift card) Do this regularly. It’s certainly not science but it will tell you more about what’s resonating about the product than a bunch of statistically insignificant data.

Introducing Quick Merkle Database (QMDB), a high-performance verifiable database optimized for blockchains. • 2.28M state updates per second, 1M TPS (benchmarked transfers per second). • Benchmarked with workloads up to 15B (10x Ethereum’s 2024 state) and proven capacity to scale to 280B entries on a single server. • Single read per state access, O(1) I/O for updates, and in-memory Merkleization on a footprint as small as 2.3 bytes per entry. • Efficiently scales across both consumer grade and enterprise hardware. Developed by LayerZero Labs, QMDB is MIT and apache-2 licensed and completely open-source.
