In September, @asda launched its new Cashpot for Schools initiative to help provide primary schools and parent groups with additional funding. The first scheme of its kind, Asda donated 0.5% of the value of shopping carried out through Asda Rewards to local primary schools selected by customers. In total, more than 1.3 million customers supported more than 22,000 schools across the UK, with 2301 customers in Blackpool South raising an impressive £8,600, which Asda will donate to 26 local primary schools. Across the North West, the initiative generated a total of £748,971 in donations, contributing to the nearly £5.8 million that Asda has given to schools nationwide.  I want to give a shout-out to Angela, who keeps the cogs turning at Cherry Tree Road Asda as their Community Champion, navigating the charity fundraisers throughout the year. Angela told me that in addition to three national fundraisers— @asdatickledpink, @BBCCiN Children in Need, and @PoppyLegion Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal—the foundation focuses on local charities and organisations that need support. In just a few months, they have supported over 60 local charities and good causes, including Blackpool Food Bank, Counselling in the Community, Sam’s Place, Trinity Hospice, and many, many more.
