The worst thing about American interventionism is knowing that if the US hadn’t intervened, nobody else would. The world would’ve remained peaceful & stable. The Ottomans, Russia, China, Iran, the Islamic empires, Imperial Japan, Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany were deeply committed to minding their own fucking business.

We've periodically reminded Marxist-Leninist tankies that Holodomor-denying commies are morally equivalent to Holocaust deniers, and should be treated the same by society.
The reverse is also true.

Joseph Goebbels was an outright economic Marxist who deviously cloaked his Marxism with Germanic ethnocentrism.
He called for a "class struggle" and said "once we have taken over the state, Germany will become a state of labor, a workers’ state." He yearned for a "labor state" (no different than the one in Soviet Russia) and linked his anti-Semitism to his anti-capitalism, saying the two "go together":
"As socialists we are opponents of the Jews because we see in the Hebrews the incarnation of capitalism, of the misuse of the nation’s goods."
He wanted to alleviate Jews of their capital so that he could socialize it and use it for German state projects. But he was also against non-Jewish capitalists so the "Jewish" thing was a foil for his generic hostility to business owners and "capital" like any Marxist.
Since his anti-Jewish stance was schizophrenic and shapeshifting, he also attacked them on the grounds that they led Marxism even though he was a closeted Marxist who echoed Marxist rhetoric about capitalism.
In his 1939 screed against England, he framed the war with England as a war between capitalism (England) and socialism (Germany):
"England is a capitalist democracy. Germany is a socialist people’s state. And it is not the case that we think England is the richest land on earth. There are lords and City men in England who are in fact the richest men on earth. The broad masses, however, see little of this wealth."
He gave away the game in a 1925 speech in a beer hall, in which he declared Lenin the "greatest man" next to Hitler and argued there were only "slight differences" between Communism and Hitlerism.

I’ll take a shot at answering one of these good questions. These poor young people are not dying for "no reason". They’re dying because Vladimir Putin's Russia invaded Ukraine and Ukrainians don’t want to be murdered. I hope this helps.

The speech is supposed to be a harangue. It's all bluster. This presentation is literally the last thing you would want before a sketchy battle. Nobody wants to follow a wet blanket into battle facing fearful odds.
This is horrible. Think of the CONTEXT in which this speech is being given. The badly outnumbered and exhausted English army is cornered by a superior French army, and everyone thinks they're about to die. That is NOT THE TIME to be laughing.
If I was an English soldier and I heard THIS, I'd turn tail and run, because it sounds like this guy has no idea how to lead an army. Sounds like he's desperately trying to think of the right words to say, and then saying them with no conviction.
Like, fuck, we really ARE going to die and he knows it! He can't even bring himself to sugar-coat it but instead is just lying to our faces about how we'll look back on this day, and he doesn't believe a word of what he's saying.
This is the worst rendition of this speech I've ever heard. My English teacher in high school reading from a book did a better rendition of this.
The Earps were a bunch of gun confiscating twerps who ran a street gang under the pretense of law enforcement, and Wyatt later went on to referee a fixed prize fight, for which he was far better known in his lifetime than the minor dust-up in Tombstone.

In case anyone tries to say that this clip was taken out of context, the rest of the speech is just as unhinged and retarded

Libertarians, take note. The guy is walking right up to the line and maybe even crossing over it into Holocaust Denial. Which lines up with what failed Libertarian Party candidate Michael Recentwald has said about Hoppe: that he's "one of us," that he "knows" the Holocaust didn't happen.

Bang on the money. It's well past time for mass civil disobedience from developers and property owners in California. Just build and then highlight the state's reaction for the fascist impulse belying it.

This is why Aisha Wahab was named as the Senate Housing Chair. It's why LA has permitted so few new homes after the Palisades fire. It's why the state is eye-wateringly expensive. And it's why young and working class people are fleeing. 2/2

The endless slaughter of Ukrainian and Russians must stop.
We should some sympathy for the poor Russian conscripts too. Those kids have no choice but to fight and die in drone strikes.

#OTD in 1944, the outnumbered destroyers, destroyer escorts, and escort carriers of Taffy 3 confronted a vastly more powerful Japanese force off Samar.
Ships including USS Johnston (DD-557), Hoel (DD-533), and Samuel B. Roberts (DE-413) fought against overwhelming odds to protect the American landing forces at Leyte.
Their courage remains one of the most remarkable stories in U.S. naval history.

An oldie but a goodie. In 1968 a bunch of entitled hippy bastards sent a letter detailing their specious demands to the Warden and Fellows of Wadham College, Oxford. This was their letter of reply, which speaks to how far the academy has since fallen.
