It was a huge honour after my first year in the Council to be elected Leas Cathaoirleach (Deputy Mayor) of our county, Dún Laoghaire – Rathdown.
It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life to serve the people of Glencullen - Sandyford as their councillor.
I promise to work hard and do all I can to represent the hundreds of thousands of residents of Dún Laoghaire - Rathdown to the best of my ability as their Leas Cathaoirleach.

Update on Sandyford Civic Park 🌳
It was great to see the Part 8 planning process for Sandyford Civic Park passed at our last Council meeting bringing a much needed public amenity closer to reality as the area’s population continues to grow.
Credit has to be given to Cllr. Saul and Cllr. O’Leary who had the foresight to propose the park back in 2009 and link its delivery to housing ensuring the park project received funding.
I also highlighted the importance of supporting the businesses currently on the proposed site to find suitable alternative premises within Sandyford. They provide valuable services to our community and must not be left behind.
I will continue to work with these businesses and support the delivery of a fantastic new park for Sandyford.

A nice piece in @SportforBusines about our partnership with the @BreedersCup World Championships and how we will provide the latest in equine welfare & anti-doping technology at this year’s World Championships @Keeneland!

I am pleased that my company @EquineMediRec will once again be working with the @BreedersCup World Championships and I will be supporting with my team on the ground @Keeneland Racetrack in Lexington, Kentucky, next week.
Six years ago in the midst of COVID the Breeders’ Cup took a chance on an Irish start-up with a vision to use technology to advance equine welfare.
As our first international corporate partner their trust and support helped put us on the path to where we are today, working with leading equine organisations from the US to Australia and from Saudi Arabia to Hong Kong.
I’ll always be grateful to the Breeders’ Cup for believing in us and giving my team and me that opportunity. I’m really looking forward to returning to Keeneland and continuing our work together to support equine welfare through technology.

Dundrum Bus Layover Scheme – Addressing Your Questions
Following the video I shared with Cllr @JimDundrum about the proposed bus layover scheme in Dundrum a number of questions and concerns were raised by local residents.
We have been working to obtain further information and provide answers to the issues raised. At our most recent Area Committee meeting Cllr O’Leary received a detailed response to a motion on the scheme which I will share in the comments below for everyone’s information.
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to get in touch and share their views.

It was lovely to attend the coffee morning in Dundrum hosted by Deputy @MaeveOConnellFG.
A wide range of topics were discussed from national issues surrounding the recent Budget to local matters affecting Dundrum and the changes taking place in the area. It was a great opportunity to hear different perspectives and engage in meaningful conversations about the issues that matter to the community.
A sincere thank you to Deputy O’Connell, her team and everyone who took the time to come along and contribute to such a valuable discussion.

Celebrating a fantastic season at Sandyford Cricket Club! 🏏
I was honoured to be invited as a guest speaker at the Sandyford Cricket Club Awards alongside Ireland Men’s T20 Cricket Team Captain Lorcan Tucker. Congratulations to all the award winners on their well deserved recognition!
It was fantastic to see how Sandyford Cricket Club continues to go from strength to strength. The launch of its first women’s team this year alongside its summer cricket programme for children demonstrates the club’s commitment to growing the game, encouraging participation and creating opportunities for the next generation of cricketers.
A huge congratulations to Club President Rajesh Manirajan and his team for their hard work, dedication and leadership in delivering such a successful season and a wonderful awards evening.
Grassroots clubs like Sandyford play a vital role in building strong communities, developing talent and making sport accessible to all.
Wishing everyone at Sandyford Cricket Club continued success in the seasons ahead!

A big thank you to the Council for cutting back the overgrown bushes at the entrance to Bishops Gate on the Enniskerry Road.
This was an issue I raised as the overgrowth was blocking the footpath and making it difficult and potentially dangerous for people with prams and children to pass safely.
I’ve also followed up with the Council to request that the area be cleaned up as the work has uncovered a significant amount of rubbish.
It’s important that our footpaths remain safe, accessible and clean for everyone.

A lovely weekend breakfast spot in Kilternan! ☕️
If you’re looking for a lovely place to enjoy breakfast or brunch at the weekend in Kilternan I would highly recommend The Golden Ball.
They serve breakfast from 10:00 am on weekends and what really makes the experience special is the exceptionally kind, friendly and welcoming staff.
It’s always a pleasure to find places where both the food and the hospitality make you feel welcome. Definitely worth a visit if you are in our area!

Increased High Visibility Garda Patrols in Clay Farm for Halloween
I have had a number of residents from the Clay Farm area contact me with concerns about anti social behaviour particularly in the run up to Halloween.
I raised these concerns directly with our local Garda Superintendent and it is great to see increased high visibility Garda patrols in the Clay Farm area in response.
These patrols are an important step in addressing residents’ concerns helping to deter anti social behaviour and ensuring our community feels safe over the Halloween period.
I will continue to engage with An Garda Síochána on behalf of local residents to ensure these concerns are heard and that appropriate action is taken.
Thank you to everyone who has been in touch to raise these issues and to our local Gardaí for their continued work to keep our community safe.

Following a highly successful @SandyfordBID International Innovation Summit it was a pleasure to speak with Ger Corbett, Chief Executive of Sandyford BID, and Graham Colclough, Mentor-in-Chief at the European Association of Business and Innovation Districts.
We all agreed that Sandyford is ideally positioned to become a leader in innovation, both nationally and internationally, particularly with the planned delivery of an Innovation Campus within the district.
Sandyford is already a key economic driver for Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown and the opportunities ahead are significant. The development of an Innovation Campus has the potential to further strengthen the district’s position as a hub for enterprise, investment, research and collaboration.
I look forward to continuing to advocate for the support of Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council to help realise this ambition and ensure Sandyford continues to thrive as a centre of economic growth, innovation and opportunity for our county and beyond.

I really enjoyed joining fellow panellists Aawatif Hayar, former Moroccan Minister and President of Hassan II University of Casablanca, and Tasos Vasiliadis, founder of JOIST Innovation Park in Greece, for a thought provoking discussion on what an Irish and European blueprint for innovation could look like @SandyfordBID International Innovation Summit.
An excellent exchange of perspectives on how we can strengthen our innovation ecosystems, foster collaboration and turn ideas into impactful companies.
Looking forward to day two of the conference and continuing the conversation!
