Produced in collaboration with @unibirmingham, the report explores the reasons why at any one time in England there remains around 2000+ people with a learning disability/autistic people, who find themselves needlessly detained within the hospital system for prolonged periods.
But we have encountered extreme cases where individuals have been detained for much longer, such as Kasibba, who lived in the system for 40 years. changingourlives.org/wp-cont…

On 15 September we held a networking event at @outertemple centred around our Hospital to Home work, which aims to get people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people who find themselves trapped in hospital settings for indefinite periods of time into their own homes.
Introduced by our trustee Dr Rosie Harding, Professor of Law and Society at Birmingham Law School, @unibirmingham, the event was attended by solicitors and barristers from a range of different law firms and aimed to build a legal network of support for our work.
Thank you to all who attended @rosiehardinguk @bhamlaw @unibirmingham
