Congratulations to Dr. Samya Samanta (@iamsamya96), Ph.D. #15 from Powers group. Samya has been a leader in the group with his expertise in methodology development as well as being a mentor to several students in the lab. We are excited to see him shine in his future endeavors.
Now live in TETL! We have introduced N-phenothiazinium amine salts as stable, tunable precursors for generating N-centered radicals. Providing a new route to aminyl radicals for use in C–N bond-forming reactions. Congrats to @iamsamya96 and coworkers.

Our latest @ChemicalScience paper reports the first crystal structure of hydrazoic acid bound to a transition metal. Cryogenic photolysis reveals the elusive triplet dirhodium imidogen intermediate enabling stereospecific NH aziridination of olefins. doi.org/10.1039/D6SC02258H
Our latest work in @J_A_C_S captures a reactive silver nitrene in crystallo an important but elusive intermediate in C–H functionalization. The triplet nitrene species is confirmed by further spectroscopy, and computation. Link:
