My take is it's a good thing that BC had a say on reconciliation. It impacts us as much as First Nations, so our governments need to be responsive. Wab Kinew once famously said "we have to bring the working class with us," on Climate Change. Eby didn't do that, and he lost.

Since this morning, Iโ€™ve been unable to leave my home. All checkpoints in H2 and exits from Hebron are closed. Israeli forces have begun demolishing homes and shops near the site of the attack. Residents are living in fear, cut off from basic necessities. We urgently call on the UN, international governments, and humanitarian organizations to act now: protect civilians, demand an end to unlawful demolitions and collective restrictions, and ensure safe access to essential supplies and emergency services. Hebron must not be forgotten. We need urgent action, not just statements of concern.

Snap Elections generally only work when they're called on a Clear Question. For instance: When Doug Ford went for a mandate specifically to spend a lot of money opposing Trump. Usually needs to be a Red Hot Issue too. In the absence of that? People hate elections.

I genuinely think the BC NDP has done a pretty good job governing the province over the last nine years and that BC would have been better served by re-electing them. But the call was also cynical electioneering, and there's always schadenfreude in seeing that punished.

Today broke grey and raw for New Democrats here in BC: last night was a body blow. This morning Iโ€™m sending solidarity and care to all the progressive organizers - within and beyond electoral politics - who have worked tirelessly over so many years in this province. It is thanks to your unending effort that we have won and defended all our social gains: queer and disability rights, Indigenous rights, childcare and public health, working conditions and unionization, universal public services and more. None of these victories came without struggle. And that struggle must continue now, to protect them in every way we can. But not today. Today is a day to feel all the feelings, find comfort and get some rest. Tomorrow we rise to fight again.
