Honestly that mindset in itself is a huge help in natural birth. The pain in labor isn’t pointless, it’s your body working towards a good end. Being able to make yourself not brace against the pain and relax through the contractions literally makes them a lot easier to bear, and often makes them less painful. I have nothing against the choice of an epidural. I have my hang ups and things I’m aware are a bigger risk with them, but I don’t think it’s a bad choice or an inferior one. I’ve had 3 unmedicated births so far and will probably have another. I’ve found a method that works so well for me, that it’s only truly painful during transition and pushing, which after my first, has only lasted a few minutes with my subsequent births.

They have killed 1 million chickens in Illinois. This is disgusting to me. Those birds lives had no meaning. Things need to change. Find a local source. Raise your own. It's doable. Chicken lives matter!!

I believe I can do it all. Birth a handful of babies at home safely, stay at home and keep them close in their infancy, maintain the homemaker workload, avoid medical and surveillance systems responsibly, mother strong and righteous children, give them a robust education at home, be a modest and sanctified wife, keep the passion in our marriage, indulge my hobbies, stick to my principles, have nuance, love my loved ones deeper, keep healthy boundaries, practice my own righteousness, heal from the sins of my youth, and more. Regardless of how messy it appears in the process or impossible it seems to be obtained, and regardless of the thousands of little voices that protest they already tried and it can’t be done, and regardless if no one has yet obtained it, I’m going to spend my entire life trying anyway. It’s not my fault that I grew up in classrooms with posters on every wall that said stuff like “Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” Or that my mom told me I could pray and ask God for help and it worked the very first time I tried. Or that my name translated means “she ascends.” I am programmed with Hopium

Literal NONSENSE from Health.com. Oatmeal, a smoothie and low-fat yogurt is a sugar bomb. Spike the glucose, spike the insulin, and insulin tells your kidneys to hold on to sodium. That's not a blood pressure lowering breakfast. That will increase your blood pressure. How dare I? Read on... Their best evidence for oats? A 2 to 3 point drop. Wow. In an actual randomized trial, patients who cut carbs under 20 grams a day dropped systolic pressure almost 6 points in 48 weeks. The low-fat (high-carb) group went UP. Same weight loss. Carbs are optional & not helpful. Eat the eggs, the meat and the animal fat, and watch your blood pressure come down... Read the actual studies. Links below... – at Tennessee, USA

You know choline researchers appreciate your work when the authors of this study emailed me the full text right when it came out. For reference, Real Food for Pregnancy was the first book to speak to choline needs being higher than current recs.
JUST IN: Children whose mothers took choline supplements during pregnancy scored +8 IQ points higher at age 4 than those in a placebo group, major new study finds.

Literal FOOLISHNESS from WebMD. They left out the part that matters most: what you eat when you do eat. Your gallbladder squeezes hardest when fat hits your gut. Starve it of fat and the bile just sits there. In a trial of two very low calorie diets, 6 of 11 people on the nearly fat free version (3 grams of fat a day) developed gallstones. On the version with 12 grams of fat a day: 0 of 11. The higher fat group's gallbladders emptied significantly better. Fat phobia is bad for your gallbladder. Eat real animal fat with your meals and let that organ do its job.
Your gallbladder releases bile each time you eat. When you skip meals, those bile juices build up. This raises the cholesterol levels in your gallbladder. Over time, the waxy fats can harden into gallstones. Some bile acids also may make you more likely to get gallbladder cancer. So carve out time for regular meals. wb.md/4e8G1Ln

In addition to animal welfare violations, these farms have been proven to engage in price fixing schemes internationally; they also cover up food safety fiascos. We can fight the corporate excess from our own backyards, together!
A million chickens just killed, due to HPAI in rose acre farms facility. Mass factory farms are pure hell for animals. And also just the perfect breeding grounds for disease. A horrible end, to a million unique lives. If you eat eggs, please consider raising and loving chickens of your own. Or Purchasing from someone who does that. ❤️ I hope they are someplace dust bathing in the sun 😢 💔 I’m sorry humans failed you so badly.

I'm glad to see this, but the likeliest driver isn't a direct anti-aging effect of the drug. Tirzepatide lowers insulin and body fat, and those changes alone should slow most aging markers. A new review of the epigenetic and proteomic data says some effects may be partly independent of weight loss, but it also says they don't yet prove slowed aging. The best use is still to let the drug curb carb cravings while a person builds protein-first meals and a lifting habit that keeps working after the last dose.
Tirzepatide may actually slow biological aging. An epigenetic sub-study from Eli Lilly’s SURMOUNT-5 trial, presented at an aging research conference at Harvard, found that all 15 biological aging clocks advanced more slowly than chronological time. Some even moved backward. This is a promising longevity signal. Some of these improvements may come from weight loss and better metabolic health, but researchers are also investigating whether tirzepatide’s direct GLP-1/GIP metabolic actions provide additional benefits. The key is getting the dose right. You don’t want to suppress your appetite so much that you’re chronically undereating, losing muscle, or feeling depleted. Find the lowest effective dose, eat sufficient protein, and lift heavy to preserve muscle. Get those fundamentals right, and tirzepatide could be an incredible tool for both body composition and long-term metabolic health. The anti-aging findings are preliminary, but the potential is exciting.

Peer-reviewed studies have to be funded by a vested interest. We will never have peer-reviewed studies that back up Intactivism because no one makes $ off of *not* harvesting neonatal tissue. Funny how he doesn't require peer-reviewed studies to condemn FGM.. Trust the science cuckoldry won't be tolerated here because it's illogical nonsense to expect million-dollar peer-reviewed studies to be done in support of things that are ultimately non-profitable. People would do well to aspire to rationality, ESPECIALLY when it concerns science.
You made the argument that procedure in question didn't make dent in disease prevention. Regardless of it being cultural. I debunked your theory three times already. Show the masses through peer reviewed studies that intactivism leads to healthier outcomes.

99% of women and girls in Somalia have been mutilated in the following way: the clitoris is cut off, along with the inner labia. Then the inner flesh of the outer labia is removed before both sides are sewn tightly together, leaving a hole no bigger than a matchstick for urine and menses to trickle through. All of this is done in childhood, and without any form of anesthesia whatsoever. Sometimes the little girl is given a scrap of leather or a stick to bite down on. The cutters use old razor blades, or sometimes a piece of broken glass. This is only the beginning of a girl’s pain. Most wedding nights in Somalia are aided by “the little knife” — that is, the new husband slices his bride open so that he can penetrate her now cut and bleeding scar tissue. Some men, however, simply batter their way through, tearing that tiny hole open by sheer force. When a woman goes into labor, she’s cut open more widely, then sewn back up afterwards so that when sex resumes she will have to be cut open yet again. This practice leads to countless deaths from infection and a drastic increase in maternal mortality, but Somali men still refuse to marry uncut women, forcing mothers to have their daughters cut or face social stigma. Uncut girls are seen as dirty; the term for clitoris is a playground taunt in Somalia, and girls who are not cut are usually ostracized by their peers. The Somali government recently debated the legality of this appalling custom, and the parliament largely split along gender lines. Female MPs roundly condemned FGM, while male MPs insisted that having a clitoris made a woman more difficult to penetrate, and quoted the hadith in which Muhammad condoned the practice. These are educated men who nevertheless claim that cutting a girl is necessary in order to control her sexuality, and that an uncut woman will be promiscuous and untrustworthy. In spite of the Somali government’s continued support for FGM, foreign aid continues to flow into Somalia unobstructed. The West should refuse to give the Somali government so much as a single dollar until they outlaw FGM and take positive steps to combat the problem. One tactic that has been highly successful involves showing Somali men a video of a girl being mutilated. Because FGM is seen as women’s business, most men have no idea what it entails. Men who watch this video are horrified, and the most common reaction has been “Not my daughter!” This proves that FGM is not hopelessly entrenched in Somali culture. Western pressure and resources could make an enormous difference in the lives of Somali women and girls, and put a stop to this barbaric practice.

The amount of people walking around exhausted, freezing, losing their hair, struggling with their cycles and being told their labs are “normal” needs far more attention than it’s getting.

One of the most common concerns I hear about in third trimester is low iron. Most providers will tell you to take a run of the mill iron supplement without telling you that it’s not actually going to do anything for you besides hurt your stomach and wreck your bowel movements. What they should be telling you is that in your third trimester hepcidin drops to release more iron and change how you’re absorbing it so that more is sent to the baby. With this, your blood volume is also expanding so the value becomes diluted. If you’ve been nourishing yourself adequately, these biological changes are doing exactly what they’re meant to do. If you’ve gone into pregnancy in a deficit and aren’t nourishing yourself, a whole food approach with attention to other cofactors will do more for you than a synthetic junk iron supplement will anyways. Think organ meats, eggs, healthy fats, blackstrap molasses. Not everything that changes in pregnancy is a problem to fix, it’s information worth understanding.

An old ape named Shift finds a dead lion's skin floating in a pool. He sits down with a needle and thick thread, and every time a bird flies over, he stops sewing and waits for it to pass. He knows exactly what he's making, and he doesn't want anyone in the sky to see it. C.S. Lewis wrote that scene in 1956, in the last Narnia book. It's the one most of us never got to as kids. I only read it a few years ago. When his friend Puzzle the donkey comes back from market, Shift ties the skin onto him and tells him to stand in the shadows. Then he tells the whole of Narnia that Aslan has come back. Lewis tells you how it works. No one who had ever seen a real lion would have been taken in for a moment. It only works from far away, at night, by firelight, with the donkey kept quiet while the ape does all the talking. Puzzle gets scared and says what if the real Aslan comes. Shift laughs and says Aslan never turns up nowadays. Right then there's a crack of thunder and the ground shakes under them. Puzzle says it's a warning. Shift says yes, it's a sign, and it means Aslan approves. Now Gerwig's Aslan has Bowie's face and Meryl Streep's voice. The lion who sang a whole world into being in The Magician's Nephew, the voice so deep it shook the ground, talks like someone else now. Shift did the same thing. He kept the lion's face and changed who was talking. Lewis is gentle with the donkey, and I want to be too. Puzzle isn't evil. He's tired and trusting, and someone he believed kept telling him he wasn't clever enough to judge for himself. Lewis saves his anger for the ape with the needle. A dad told me he was reading that first chapter to his kids and had to put the book down, because it read like these Hollywood headlines. Pick up the real books. Read all seven out loud, every night, until your kids know that voice. A child who has heard the real lion can't be sold a donkey in a skin.
C.S. Lewis’ family has issued an official statement supporting Greta Gerwig’s Narnia and praising her lifelong passion for the books. bit.ly/4Buu39d

I bet doing nothing, slagging around the house, eating mindless trash, trusting everything will work out without preparative action in the 9 months before a marathon would put a person dangerously close to death during the race. I also bet they’re unlikely to go around afterward saying “marathons are dangerous!” to people who want to run marathons, unless they are abysmally poor at self reflection.
