Song of the Day: Another one of those pure Id of rock music songs, I was listening to it on a brisk morning walk and I found it impossible not to strut a bit while walking youtube.com/watch?v=o4GTkpSz…

If you’re leaving the house to play ping pong after work your wife should divorce you. But not from neglect but shame
I’m in a very small minority of dads that get let out of the house after work and it’s to go play table tennis. I was talking about it with another dad and we both concluded that both of our wives seem to crash out when they’re home alone with the kids for extended periods of time in a way that we just don’t. Like we have no issues putting on Bluey, airfrying the nice Costco chicken nuggets, passing out some crayons and cracking a beer. My wife plays volleyball in a women’s league once a week and nobody notices or cares when she’s gone. When I go play table tennis once a week I literally have my kids begging me not to go and my wife quietly hoping I’ll just skip it. It’s not that there’s some conspiracy against men or anything, it’s just what seems to be happening in families these days. For instance, I have met a lot of dads that were into Warhammer growing up, and there’s interest in starting to play together, but I just don’t see too many guys with the ability to, build, paint, and play an army. I guess what I’m getting at is that there’s an almost autistic fixation on fairness when it comes to getting to do extracurricular activities and a lot of couples seem to find parity by doing absolutely nothing, that way there’s no argument about who’s getting out of the house more. This leads us to our current situation where married ppl just socialize a lot less than they used to.

"Efforts to “smash The Patriarchy” coexisted quite comfortably with elite plans to restructure the economy. Globalization and deindustrialization devastated much of men’s industrial employment in working-class communities across the West, while women entered the burgeoning service economy and professions in growing numbers. Feminism’s emphasis on sexual liberation, representation, and combating “male violence against women and girls” saw men’s reactions to this upheaval as patriarchal resistance to women’s emancipation. In short, neoliberalism reorganized the geography of production, uprooting established livelihoods and social relations; its feminist flank recast the resulting class contradictions as antagonisms between the sexes, not least through its go-to morality play: the Despicable Man threatened by the independent Woman."

Rock died when it separated itself from sex. Did a video for a huge rock band and they argued over "the male gaze." PC and rock is death. Everyone would rather be Rolling Stone Magazine than the Rolling Stones. Music is ultimately driven by horny teenagers and they fled to rap.
Billy Corgan says rock didn’t just fade, it was pushed out of mainstream culture. Speaking with Conrad Flynn on The Magnificent Others Podcast, he recalled a late‑’90s shift where MTV “suddenly decided rock was out” even though the genre was still huge. Corgan said he “saw the gravity shift” as rap took over and standards changed overnight. Today, he points to the irony: rock sells massive tickets worldwide, yet barely appears in mainstream media. For him, the industry “purposely dialed down the ability of rock stars to have a voice.” 📸 - The Magnificent Others Podcast

If I was going to pick a best rock song by one of the approved of 21st century indie bands it would be "Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground" by the White Stripes and not Seven Nation Army

80s hair metal was terrible but if it had anything close to the hegemonic hold on the culture that the MCU has had since 2012 I guess I just was too young to remember
Replying to @iloveminigolf
this is legit how I feel about 80’s hair metal

Its often been said that therapy is an effective replacement for religion in people's lived but its more than that. These professions are literally the new clerisy
Replying to @educator4ever36
Has anyone looked at the training required to become a social worker or therapist? They quite literally have to go through university programs that are required to teach them about white supremacy and anti-racism. They can’t be accredited without it

I dont like any of the signature rock songs (or what passes for rock) this century. The best rock songs of this century are "Let there be Rock" "Women without Whiskey" "Decoration Day" "Birthday Boy" and "Never Gonna Change" by Drive by Truckers

I didnt like the synth stuff either like MGMT or the Postal Service and in general Millennial music as with the rest of our cultural affiliations it was just too precious and frankly feminized. I like one or two Death Cab songs but only up to a point

The only proper 2000s rock band other than Drive by Truckers Im aware of was Queens of the Stone Age and maybe Eagles of Death Metal and they each had their roots in the 90s and earlier sonically and in terms of vibe as did the DBT's. I despise preciousness and twee in music

The best rock song ever? I'd say it's "Can't Be Us" by Kendrick Lamar. The best jazz song ever? Got to be "Can't Be Us" by Kendrick Lamar. The best Norwegian black metal song ever? You bet your ass it's "Can't Be Us" by Kendrick Lamar.

This is what I told people in a group chat I was in at the time and they didnt see it. But it was obvious. Some version of MAGA, Right populism, that will remain but this was so obviously against the fundamental laws, character and instincts of this country and most saw it
I maintain that Trumpism ended with Renee Good and Alex Pretti’s murders. Of course he has still and will still do damage, he will still have supporters and a cult around him, but it broke a spell

Turning a big dial that says “Rape” on it and constantly looking back at the the audience for approval like a contestant on the price is right
Why don’t men understand that sometimes a girl says stop because she wants you to take the lead? We were making out on the bed, MUMU tried reaching for my pants, and I told him to stop. I wasn’t even struggling with him. This CLOWN actually stopped and ruined my whole mood. DOG , YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO READ THE ROOM.

MAGA is of course deliberately overreacting to Obama's Cheesecake Factory remark, but there was always a certain classism and urban snobbery to Obama that rubbed American conservatives the wrong way which American liberals/progressives never understood.

Few historical observations that may be relevant: —There has never been a servant underclass with information/education dominance over its masters that remained controllable —There has never been a living thing that has been completely predictable —There has never been a managerial relationship to which the principal-agent problem did not apply to some degree —There has never been a tool whose workmanship and role did not to some extent reflect the ultimate intentions of its creator —There has never been an illiterate industrial, let alone postindustrial, society You can probably fill in the gaps.
