Great news for Washington's Ninth District. Today, the House of Representatives passed a package that will deliver $6,316,000 in community project funds back to our community in WA-09.
These Community Project Funding investments reflect what our communities are asking for — cleaner water, safer neighborhoods, and more opportunities for young people to succeed. I will continue fighting to ensure federal resources are directed where they can make the greatest local impact.
President Trump will continue to push a radical, anti-democratic agenda, and we need to get serious about how we're going to stop him.
Donald Trump and Republican policies have made lives harder and more expensive for our nation’s seniors. The war of choice in Iran and tariffs have driven up costs not just on gas and groceries, but the inflated costs are hurting seniors with fixed incomes. I remain dedicated to protecting Social Security and defending the earned benefits of our older neighbors.

"That's what I tried to tell my Republican colleagues on the call here. Don't think of this as some tactical error. This is a strategic plan to back Putin over Zelenskyy."
The only thing that's going to get a peace deal is to put pressure on Russia, yet President Trump continues to put pressure on Ukraine.
I visited United Way of King County President and CEO in Seattle to speak with their team about recent work to bring a better future to our community. By establishing access to housing, food security, educational opportunities, and financial stability, United Way is building a stronger foundation for our neighbors.

Congress and the American people overwhelmingly support Ukraine.
I joined a bipartisan group of my colleagues in a meeting with President Zelenskyy yesterday to reiterate that. I also made it clear that Trump's efforts to undercut Ukraine are part of a strategic plan to back Putin's autocratic aggression. We must act on both sides of the aisle if we are going to stop him.

Thanks to Kandelia and Seattle World School for giving me a tour of their facility in Seattle. Great to see the programs and services you’re implementing to support our immigrant and refugee families across our community. Looking forward to coming back.
Unchecked settler violence in the West Bank is unacceptable. Within the last several days, Palestinians, European diplomats, and American journalist Heidi Levine have faced horrifying attacks by settlers.
Condemnations, opening of investigations, and the arrest of 10 settlers today is a start, but far more must be done to rein in settler violence. When Prime Minister Netanyahu’s government retroactively legalizes outposts, when Finance Minister Smotrich and National Security Minister Ben-Gvir openly support settlement expansion, and when settlement projects such as E1 are allowed to proceed, all these actions enable further settler violence.
We must ensure perpetrators of instability in the West Bank are held accountable. Congress should pass the West Bank Violence Prevention Act, legislation I introduced with Representatives Nadler and Himes that would sanction individuals and entities destabilizing the West Bank. Those threatening peace and stability in the West Bank must face consequences to prevent further terror and unrest.

“The United States Congress stands strongly and unequivocally with Ukraine. Russia's continued campaign of war crimes and its slaughtering of innocent civilians, aided by the Trump Administration’s pro-Putin agenda, demands urgent and forceful action from Congress to reaffirm that support."

Earlier today, my district office received a suspicious letter containing a powdery substance, like others sent to Congressional offices across the country. My staff has been safely evacuated, and I thank the Kent Police Department and the Renton Fire Department for their quick action.

The Clean Water Act has been fighting water pollution for over 50 years. By setting wastewater standards, maintaining water quality, and improving pollution treatment, more Americans and wildlife are able to enjoy our nation’s water sources.
Since December 2024, American families have added to their monthly expenses, including $222 more on electricity, an extra $256 on rent, $758 more spent on gas, $211 added to the grocery bill, $852 more on childcare, and $929 spent on family health care coverage. That’s over $3,000 that could be spent paying off student loans, adding to your child’s college fund, or saving for a home.
My constituents can’t afford these extra costs under the Trump administration.
A year ago today, I introduced the Voluntary Grazing Permit Retirement Act, legislation to expand market-based, cooperative tools to reduce conflicts between domestic livestock grazing and other critical uses of public land, like wildlife habitat, clean water, hunting and fishing. Our public lands are a shared inheritance, and this bill gives ranchers and conservation partners a fair, voluntary path to resolve long-standing conflicts and restore fragile ecosystems.
Last night, President Trump signed an executive order waiving sanctions on Russia mandated by Congress in the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, just two days before the law was set to take effect. By waiving these sanctions, President Trump is yet again siding with his dictator friend Putin and leaving President Zelensky and the Ukrainian people to fend for themselves.
Donald Trump’s pro-Russia platform undermines global stability and is not in the interests of the United States. Over the past two weeks alone, Trump cut an illegal diesel deal with Putin that will do nothing to rein in sky-high diesel prices that are a result of the administration’s war in Iran, falsely claimed he achieved an energy ceasefire, and refused to provide transparency regarding restrictions on Starshield. Trump continually shows he would prefer to support an authoritarian regime over a democratic country.
Trump is not operating in reality. Congress must reassert its authority, pass a sanctions bill that will actually support Ukraine, make it clear Trump is not above the law, and stop the President from running this country into the ground.
