Remember when Rupert Lowe dismissed Dunblane as a one off murder that took away gun ownership. He never apologised. That should have been the end of his political ambitions.

Please retweet to help Little Boy, Kita, Saskia, Konan, Chinook and Odin, the six Husky x Malamute pups who have arrived safely into foster care #LEICESTER #UK
25 OCT 2026 ๐๐๐๐๐๐
These beautiful pups have come from awful conditions. They have never been out on walks, have lived in their own faeces and have had little to no socialisation with people or other dogs.
When we collected them, most were completely shut down. They froze when taken outside on a lead, and it was heartbreaking to see. They now have a chance to learn what it means to feel safe, loved and cared for.
All six are severely underweight, with a body condition score of just 1. They have a long road ahead, but we are determined to give them the happy, healthy lives they deserve.
WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP!
We have already spent over ยฃ800 on their initial vaccinations and microchipping. They still need further vaccinations, flea and worm treatments, neutering, veterinary care and ongoing rehabilitation. With six pups to care for, the costs will quickly add up.
Please help us give these pups the fresh start they deserve. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference. If you cannot donate, please share!

On this day 626 years ago Geoffrey Chaucer died. Best known for โThe Canterbury Talesโ, his connection to Kent went far beyond literature.
He was elected a Knight of the Shire for Kent in 1386, representing us in parliament & held property and financial interests in the county.

๐จ ANIMAL CRUELTY: LIVERPOOL - ONE DOG DIED, THE OTHER WAS LEFT FIGHTING TO SURVIVE
Two young dogs were found so severely malnourished that both scored just 1 out of 9 on the veterinary body condition scale โ the lowest possible score.
French Bulldog Benji weighed just 5.3kg, with his ribs, spine and hip bones painfully prominent. Bichon Frise Pixie weighed only 2.9kg and was buried beneath filthy, tightly matted fur.
Vets concluded Benji had been starved for a โlong period of timeโ. Pixie had to be sedated to remove her matted coat, only for vets to discover liver disease. Sadly, euthanasia was deemed the kindest option.
Their owner, Danielle Southern, 30, of Saunby Close, Garston, admitted two animal welfare offences.
At Liverpool Magistratesโ Court, she received an 18-month community order, was ordered to pay ยฃ500 costs and was banned from keeping animals for 10 years.
Benji survived, recovered and found a new home.
Pixie never got that chance.

SHE DIED WAITING
Heather Earley, mother of three, has died waiting for her money. @PostOffice kept her waiting so long she ran out of time. Impressive logistics.
Lawyer @SimonMGoldberg (well worth to give him a follow) shared the sad news today.
Heather Earley was one of 555 postmasters who took the Post Office to the High Court and won, and she died before getting her redress, the money owed to put her life back together.
He points to a @BBCNews article from 2024 on victims who died before getting redress. Winning in court and never seeing the money is a rare talent.
Heather Earley was a mother of three who ran a local shop with a Post Office counter in Mossley, Newtownabbey, in Northern Ireland. In December 2013 the Horizon computer system said she was ยฃ10,000 short. A computer said so, and in the Post Office computers are never wrong..
She says one customer kept using a flaw in the system. Every time that customer withdrew ยฃ100, the system added ยฃ100 to the balance instead of taking it off. I wish my bank worked like that.
Heather Earley called the police, and the customer was prosecuted and convicted. That put the blame on the customer, and the Post Office still demanded the ยฃ10,000 from her, took money from her wages and refused to give it back even after the conviction. Crime solved, victim billed ...
She borrowed from family and maxed out three credit cards just to buy stock for the shop. She cashed in ยฃ50,000 of her pension to save the house and clear her debts. Her village lost its post office and its shop, a truly generous service to the community.
In 2019 the Post Office settled the group case for ยฃ57.75M. Around ยฃ46M went on legal and funding costs, which left roughly ยฃ20,000 for each of the 555 people. The judge, Mr Justice Peter Fraser, had said the Post Office at times acted as though it answered only to itself, and it seems to have taken that as a challenge.
Reports say at least 350 Horizon victims have died before their final payouts, so at this pace the scheme will finish the moment nobody is left to be paid.
Heather Earley wanted justice and enough money to rebuild what was left of her life. Simon Goldberg says the lawyers and other parties who held up and nickel and dimed her redress should feel nothing but shame, though shame does not appear to be billable. Stop fighting these people and pay them before it is too late.
Heather Earley never got her cheque.
RIP Heather

๐จ ANIMAL CRUELTY CONVICTION | JENNIFER BENTLEY, 47, CONGLETON โ LEFT DYING DOG SNOOP TO SUFFER, THEN HIS BODY WAS FOUND WRAPPED IN A RUG IN THE GARDEN
Cane Corso Snoop endured months of diarrhoea, severe weight loss and a deteriorating condition. Yet his owner, Jennifer Bentley, never sought veterinary treatment.
Veterinary evidence described prolonged illness, malnutrition and distress. By the time the RSPCA discovered Snoop, he was severely emaciated.
The suffering did not end there. Officers found his decomposing body wrapped in a rug in the garden of Bentleyโs abandoned property.
Snoop needed help. He never got it.
Bentley was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, ordered to pay ยฃ400 in costs and banned from keeping animals for life.
A dog who depended entirely on his owner was left to endure a prolonged decline without the veterinary care he desperately needed.
Snoop deserved better.

Yet another example of the justice system failing to take violence against women seriously. No custodial sentence.
๐จ SOUTHPORT: CONVICTED STALKER AVOIDS PRISON
Gary Ian Nelson, 47, has avoided jail despite convictions for harassment, common assault and criminal damage after his victim endured violence, threats and more than a year of stalking behaviour.
Sentenced at Liverpool/Knowsley Magistratesโ Court on 16 September 2026, Nelson received a community order requiring up to 20 rehabilitation activity days.
He must also pay a ยฃ150 fine, ยฃ650 in prosecution costs and a ยฃ114 surcharge.
A restraining order bans him from contacting the victim directly or indirectly, including through social media, and from entering two specified roads. It remains in force until 15 September 2029.
Three convictions. No immediate prison sentence.
The restraining order offers legal protection, but the impact of prolonged harassment, threats and violence cannot simply be undone.
