NEW COLUMN: Another appalling judicial decision
Abhijeet Singh, Gurkaran Singh and Khushveer Toor were convicted of the brutal 2022 murders of seniors Arnold and Joanne De Jong. The details of the murders would turn your stomach.
Nevertheless, Justice Brenda Brown ruled that making the killers wait 25 years before they can apply for parole violates their Charter right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment.
Outrageous.
The truth is elections have consequences.
After 11 years of Liberal government and Liberal appointments to Canada's superior and appeal courts, this way of thinking in which the rights of criminals are prioritized over the rights of victims and their families has become deeply rooted among our judicial elites.
So yes, elections have consequences. Just ask the family of Arnold and Joanne De Jong.

Friendly reminder that this is what Canada's big immigration lobby pushes for.
And Mark Carney caters to their every whim.
It's not fair to Canadian workers or the immigrant who want to come to Canada to build a better life.
Order and fairness must be restored.

Conservative Party's position on immigration levels.

This morning myself and @bradredekopp unrolled the Conservative Party’s position on immigration levels ahead of the Liberal’s release of the immigration levels plan.
Immigration levels must go way down, not up. Here's why.

How much will we pay for this associate member status? Norway pays $731 million per year for EU common market access. Will Canada have to pay a similar amount but scaled to the size of economy? Will it be less? No one knows as Mark Carney hasn't told Canadians anything.
The European Union and Canada will endorse an unprecedented alliance at a summit next week, cementing plans for associate EU membership for Ottawa as both reduce their dependence on the US. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

I am in QP.
We, Conservatives, just asked the government why they gave a $12,000,000 contract to an American company rather than the Canadian Commissionaires who had a similar bid.
Minister Wayne Long just said, “we stand by this decision”.
Unreal.
Hire Canadians. Period.

Why is his government freezing out vets in favour of an American company with ties to ICE.

Two innocent seniors were brutally murdered in their own home. Their killers were convicted of first-degree murder.
Now, a judge has ruled that restricting their ability to seek early parole eligibility violates the killers’ Charter rights.
WHAT ABOUT THE CHARTER RIGHTS OF THE VICTIMS?
The previous Conservative government repealed the faint hope clause to stop murderers from seeking sentencing reductions.
MURDERERS SHOULD NOT COME FIRST. VICTIMS AND THEIR FAMILIES DESERVE JUSTICE.
If this decision stands, it must be appealed. The De Jong family has suffered enough.

The Liberals are making it easier for employers to hire foreign workers without proving they looked for Canadians first.
Canadian workers deserve a fair shot at jobs in their own country. Why is this government making that harder?
NEW COLUMN: Carney snubs democracy with omnibus bills
Carney manufactured a majority government after Canadians gave him a minority, stacked parliamentary committees, shut down investigations, moved committee proceedings in camera, and shut down debate on crucial government bills.
The use of omnibus bills to short-circuit scrutiny and debate is the next step down the democratic ladder for Carney.
When will Carney’s attacks on the institutions of Canadian democracy end?

Food bank demand in Toronto is up 300% since Carney became the economic advisor to the Liberal government.
It is worse still since he became Prime Minister. He says affordability is the best it has been in over a decade. He is out of touch. Canadians are out of food.

Reject corporate lobbies that push these lies:
>"Canadians don't want to do these jobs"
>"No one will ever move there"
>"Only a non citizen has the skills to do this job"
Pay Canadians properly. Train them. Support policies that enables labour mobility.
This is the way.
Mass immigration suppresses Canadian wages.
When the pandemic hit, borders were effectively closed, save for a few specific exceptions.
By December 2021, corporate Canada was complaining of staffing shortages. These pressures had forced companies to raise starting wages as they struggled to retain existing staff, let alone recruit new ones.
For a brief period, a tight labour market gave working Canadians real leverage.
Achieving this didn't take far-left ideology, radical policies, or aggressive minimum-wage hikes. It simply took restricting immigration to a trickle, which inadvertently gave ordinary working- and middle-class Canadians a fighting chance at a decent living.
Keep that in mind as Mark Carney muses about raising annual immigration levels to 500,000, all while countless young people struggle to find work.

Today, the B.C. Supreme Court struck down a key provision of Canada's drug-trafficking laws in a case involving two activists who purchased heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine online and sold them through a “safe supply” scheme.
The court found that the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act violated Charter rights by failing to provide a viable legal pathway for non-medical “safe supply” programs.
The ruling could have significant implications for drug enforcement, with impacts as severe as letting dealers who verify their drugs as “safe” off the hook.
The Liberals must appeal this ruling. Dealing serious drugs must be met with serious criminal penalties. I’m shocked that I even have to say this.

A restaurant profit model mainly based on low skilled indentured temporary foreign labour:
- Isn't Canadian because it's unfair to all workers
- Abuses a program that was designed to support businesses in areas of very low unemployment / legitimately hard to fill seasonal agriculture work
- Prevents young Canadians from getting vital first job training
Franchisees @TimHortons hire up to 80% foreign workers at some restaurants, according to bankruptcy filings in Ontario case by operator who blamed "changes to @ESDC_gc programs" for insolvency.
