If you think this is some forever shift I can’t help you. Like at all. Democrats are barely and I mean BARELY more popular the Trump. In some polls they’re tied. A used tampon is more popular right low than democrats. But we have only 2 parties so if Americans want to send a message you’re going to get the other team even if it’s the Washington Generals.

Voters want what the GOP says it wants. But the party is so feckless and useless that voters have to vote those specific policies in as seperate ballot initiatives.
Voters agreed with Republicans on every policy at issue and then voted Democrat lmao

i have not seen one serious person blame immigration policy - only the optics of kristi noem heading it, which was dumb. but again, the data is clear where the starting point in the shift started - it was liberation day, which was a massive tax increase on the american people.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.

I've always been a bit of a dissenting opinion on Hegseth, in that I think he's done basically fine in the role. He's executed what Trump asked him to do, and usually pretty well. Rank and file soliders seem to love him. It's not his decision whether to go to war or not, and some of the operations that have happened under his watch have been stunningly-well executed. (Midnight hammer, Venezuela, the rescue operation in Iran, etc.) If he's fired, he's basically the scapegoat for Trump not having the stomach to follow through on Iran and thinking he can win with solely an air operation. Either you fully commit, or you leave. You could replace Hegseth with a clone of General Patton and if you set the same constraints, nothing would be any different. To be sure, he's done some foolish stuff, most recently that decision to livestream an execution that then got reversed but was yet another distraction. So he's far from perfect, and his personal history is sordid. But in terms of carrying out the military operations the President ordered, he has been solid. Whether those missions are smart....totally different question.

If you can look at the wipeout in Texas last night and see a Cornyn victory in that carnage, I don't know what to tell you.

oof, dude sounds like he just got his heart ripped out under Pankot Palace.
Tonight wasn’t the night our campaign had hoped for. To everyone who stood alongside us, gave your time, and believed in what we set out to accomplish, thank you. I will never forget your dedication, your friendship, and, above all, your love for the great state of Texas. As Thomas Jefferson once wrote, “I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.” My dreams for Texas and America remain undiminished, as does my faith in the indomitable spirit of the people of the Lone Star State. I’m not going anywhere — because we have work to do. Onward.

You know what this says? Voters will pass what they don't trust their politicians to be able to do, and then punish incumbents for failing to listen to them.

There were 41 ballot measures to pass data center moratoriums
 it passed in every district
So the 41 datacenter moratoria across the country are, I predict, going to go 41-0. In nearly every case it's about 67-80% opposing datacenters. True in California, Ohio, everywhere. Read all the results here: dashboard-production-c2fc.up

Susan Collins, while imperfect, is a generational loss. We will likely never find the unicorn Republican who can lock down that seat again.

Voters were entirely on Trump’s side when it came to the border and asylum seekers, but Trump solved that problem so it stopped being an electoral issue Voters are stupid, you don’t get credit for fixing something
Respectfully, while voters support Trump on deportations and border enforcement, the issue just wasn’t top of mind for them. Voters were concerned about the economy and inflation — both those are downstream of the war.

Trump's refusal to implement a law passed by Congress and upheld by the Supreme Court to ban an app created in a hostile country that has promoted the most damaging social contagions in recent history should have been grounds for his immediate impeachment and removal.
If Trump actually did his job and signed the TikTok ban, he probably wins the "let's all celebrate Charlie Kirk's viral assassination" midterm election.

Everyone will point to tariffs and Iran, and those are the obvious explanations. But a systemic collapse like this can only occur if the edifice has itself become completely rotten, and had been disintegrating within for a long time before any external signs revealed themselves.

1) The war in Iran was going great until you guys convinced the president to stop. 2) MAGA has nothing to stand on when it comes to affordability; you were pushing tariffs from the jump. 3) If voters wanted America First, why did they vote for Democrats over MAGA candidates?
The conservatives who said: 1) The war in Iran is catastrophically stupid 2) Affordability is a real problem 3) America First Were exactly right on every point.
