it’s crazy that the Right had two years to do literally whatever they wanted and they spent it enriching themselves, bombing iran, and protecting pedophiles

But remember, tariffs and nationalizations and farm bailouts and huge deficits are populist, and if you're against them, you're out of touch with The People.

@DCExaminer on our new Epstein-Trump report: “The 53-page report, compiled by minority staff, alleges a “growing body of evidence” shows the president was an “active participant” in Epstein’s crimes, citing testimony from 11 women who allege Trump took part in the abuse of women.”

I call on @ClayTravis to make his one million dollar lost bet payable to Catholic Charities Nashville.
They lost 75% of their federal grants during the Trump Administration.
They’re a source of hope, love, and healing for so many struggling in this city, and they need all the support they can have.
While I don't casually bet $1 million on things, turns out @ClayTravis was cocky and wrong once again, this time on oil prices. Today Crude Oil Futures are at $102.95, well above $84.
Maybe a donation to a group that is struggling to make ends meet in this economy is in order.

Nancy Pelosi, who is regularly hammered for her perceived insider trading, has made 213 total trades since 2014. Trump exceeded that number in a single day, which just happened to precede his own tariffs announcement. My latest on the mind boggling self-enrichment:

At $500k a pop, Obama would have to give a speech every night for the next twelve years to match the $2.2 billion in openly corrupt income Trump pulled in in 2025 alone.

I read a book on the economics of the news media recently that is 20 years old but is nevertheless relevant to this issue.
The author explained that, until pretty late in the 19th century, newspapers were almost exclusively partisan and economically dependent on subsidies by political parties.
The development of a non-partisan press was prompted by technological progress, which caused the cost of production of newspaper to fall dramatically, making it possible for newspapers to reach a much larger audience.
This allowed them to expand their advertising market, but in order to do so, they needed to attract readers across party lines, which in turn incentivized a non-partisan coverage of the news.
Obviously, this doesn't mean that the press was not biased, but it was still very different and less partisan than in earlier periods. I think social media have largely reversed that by incentivizing people to cater to specific ideological bubbles.
It remains to be seen how AI will affect the news sector, but I'm sure it will have a large effect on it so it seems important to think about it.
Some centrists fantasize that because all LLMs have the ideology of Ezra Klein, that we may be on the doorstep of a great political moderation.
I wrote about a fascinating paper from @ahall_research and Sho Miyazaki that, to my mind, opens the door to a very different outcome.

The most underrated word in American politics today is “decency.”
Most of us try to be good parents, good neighbors, good colleagues, good citizens.
Decent people.
A political movement built on gleeful cruelty, open racism, wanton lies, and proud loutishness won’t last.

Incredible scoop by my @WSJ colleagues: Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration. wsj.com/world/ukraine-starli…

Musk thought he had bribed Trump enough in the midterms that the White House would agree to say Trump and Musk together agreed to throttle Starlink for Ukraine. But

It’s “new” insofar as it’s an escalation of behavior that people with eyes to see could tell you is a logical progression. Considering how terrible your judgement has been, perhaps you should refrain from calling the people who were right hysterical and just admit you were wrong.
