Here are the most important highlights from @Tesla's Q3 2026 earnings call:
â˘Â Tesla's 2027 Megapack production capacity is nearly sold out.
â˘Â Tesla is aiming to produce 5 million vehicles annually by 2030.
â˘Â Customers are increasingly visiting Tesla showrooms specifically to experience FSD rather than shopping for a particular vehicle model.
â˘Â Tesla said more than 75% of new North American vehicle deliveries included a paid FSD subscription signup, despite every vehicle already coming with a free one-month trial.
â˘Â FSD financial disclosure: Tesla plans to disclose additional FSD financial and operating metrics as the business scales, including subscription revenue and churn rates.
â˘Â Elon said Tesla is hoping for EU-wide FSD approval within a few months and would be surprised if approval takes longer than Q1 2027, although the timing depends on regulators.
â˘Â Unsupervised FSD for customer vehicles: Tesla expects to enable some customer-owned vehicles to participate in its autonomous Robotaxi network around Q2 2027, subject to fleet-management and geofencing requirements.
â˘Â Tesla is developing its own AI-based mapping and navigation system that will rely on intelligence gathered from its vehicle fleet rather than traditional third-party mapping systems. The system will support conversational voice commands, personalized routing preferences, improved parking, and more intelligent destination handling.
â˘Â Tesla plans to launch Cybercab service in Dallas in November 2026, followed by additional cities.
â˘Â Tesla plans to progressively extend robotaxi operating hours, with the goal of reaching 24/7 service by the end of 2026. Tesla expects to expand service to highways, higher-speed roads, additional weather conditions, and nighttime operations by the end of 2026.
â˘Â Elon expects Robotaxi to begin making a noticeable contribution to Tesla's financial results around Q2 2027, potentially becoming a significant business by Q3 or Q4 2027.
â˘Â Tesla is targeting the first deliveries of Cybercabs to fleet owner customers by the end of 2026, but Elon said the vast majority of Cybercabs will be Tesla-owned and operated as transportation-as-a-service vehicles rather than sold directly to consumers.
⢠Tesla has started early Optimus production. Elon said: "The growth of Optimus is an S curve, but the initial curve is a shallow slope. There's still some things we need to tweak about the design. There's still quite a lot of work to do with the AI in the robot. I would expect that the AI, the electromechanical design, reliability, usage life, expect these issues to be solved by the end of next year."
â˘Â Elon said most of the equipment for an Optimus production line designed to manufacture approximately 1 million robots annually is already at Fremont. Elon expects it will take at least another year, possibly longer, to reach an annualized production rate of approximately 1 million Optimus robots, equivalent to roughly 20,000 per week.
â˘Â Elon said Tesla may release a new Optimus V3 demonstration video within one or two months, saying that it should show genuinely AI-driven tasks rather than preprogrammed movements.
â˘Â Tesla is targeting mid-2027 to integrate its AI5 chip into Optimus.
â˘Â Management said Optimus production costs are trending toward the expected manufacturing cost of Cybercab, although the robot's design is still being refined.
â˘Â Tesla hopes to manufacture its first experimental semiconductor chips around May or June 2027. Tesla is targeting useful chip production at volume in Terafab around Q3 2028.
â˘Â Management expects higher Megapack average selling prices and further improvements in gross margins (currently 33%) as production expands.

Elon Musk on Optimus:
"We've started early production. The growth of Optimus is an S curve, but the initial curve is a shallow slope. We have the vast majority of the 1 million unit/year line installed at Fremont. There's still some things we need to tweak about the design. There's still quite a lot of work to do with the AI in the robot. I would expect that the AI, the electromechanical design, reliability, usage life, expect these issues to be solved by the end of next year. I remain convinced Optimus will be the biggest product on Earth. I do want to temper expectations that we still have a lot to get through, it will take about a year to get through that."

Replying to @tomwookieford
@tomwookieford - we donât show things that we canât do in production. The cold gas system can produce over 80kN of force. If everything weighs even a ridiculously high 2500 kg with the mass of gas plus the thruster system, the lift from the thrusters is >3x the mass of the vehicle. When you have more lift than mass, you can get off the ground, when itâs that much more over time you have spare air to flip and manuever - simple math reallyâŚ.

Tesla has just released a new video compilation of its fully autonomous/unsupervised Robotaxis (including Cybercabs and Model Ys) avoiding collisions and pedestrians, driving in heavy rain, stopping for emergency vehicles and animals, navigating tricky scenarios, and more.
Q3 Shareholder Update â ir.tesla.com
Highlights
â FSD Supervised attach rate grew to over 75% of new vehicle deliveries in NA
â Unveiled the next-gen Roadster
â Record deliveries in Canada, Australia, Japan & Taiwan
â Tesla Semi now in volume production. Top variant can go up to 500 miles at a full 82,000 lbs while achieving efficiency of 1.7 kWh/mile â about a third of the energy a comparable diesel truck burns for the same load
â Ended the quarter with the largest backlog for our passenger vehicles in 4 years!
FSD Supervised
â 4 new approvals since Q2 (Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia)
â FSD is now live in nine EU countries & used by over 100,000 customers logging more than 160 million kilometers since initial approval
Robotaxi
â Deployed Cybercab into our Austin fleet
â Hit nearly 2 million cumulative unsupervised miles, 8x growth in the quarter
â Austin service now runs 6 am to midnight, with wait times continuing to come down as we add cars & improve the orchestration algorithms
â Added Grok to Cybercab with Grok Bot & Connectors, letting you interface with your inbox, calendar, files, chats and tasks, all by voice.
Transport, office & living room in one
Robotics
â Started production of @Tesla_Optimus on our high-volume lines in Fremont.
These are the first production-quality bots we've built, proving that the current manufacturing process for Optimus is suitable for a commercial product
SI Compute
â On track for 400 MW of training compute by year end, feeding both vehicle & humanoid autonomy
â Austin Fab construction continues, equipment commissioning planned for 2027
Battery
â Battery supply is still the limiter on how fast we ramp vehicles globally, so we're expanding on every front: pack capacity in Berlin, cathode and lithium refining in Texas, LFP cells in Nevada
â Shipped the first Megapacks built entirely with our own LFP cells
â Increasing 4680 output to support ramp of Cybercab, Semi & Model Y
Energy
â Megafactory Texas is up & running, with Megapack 3 production started
â Highest-ever order rate & backlog for energy storage
Grid constraints & power availability are making Megapack the answer for SI infrastructure demand: it excels at supplying large data center loads, smooths out demand spikes, helps new projects meet grid connection rules & makes the grid itself more stable
All with less local fossil fuel generation
Supporting Infrastructure
â Added 2,100+ net new Supercharger stalls, up 14% year over year

Elon Musk to donate one @SpaceX share to ~72 million kids in America in 2027, currently valued at $10.5 billion, presumably through Trump Accounts.
Every kid in America will then have a direct stake in a company whose mission is the most ambitious in human history: to make life multi-plantary đ
