The latest population survey, released by Indonesia’s Ministry of Forestry in July 2026, estimates that only 716 Tapanuli orangutans (Pongo tapanuliensis) remain in the wild. They are the world's rarest great ape.
The situation is especially precarious because Tapanuli orangutans reproduce slowly and survive in three isolated populations.
Studies indicate that sustained additional population losses exceeding just 1% annually will result in extinction.

If you are an Israeli soldier stationed in Gaza, you can vote in one of 40 illegal voting stations setup for soldiers of genocide.
If you are a Palestinian born in Gaza, to parents Palestinian parents and grandparents and great grandparents born in Gaza, you cannot vote. You cannot have clean water. You cannot have shelter. You are not allowed to leave the Gaza Concentration Camp. You can be executed at any moment for any reason. You are the personal property of Israel and Donald Trump. You are effectively a slave.
Not so complicated after all, it's call genocide and apartheid. timesofisrael.com/liveblog_e…

My UK son said voting is much more difficult than last time.
He nearly gave up- said many will. Vote has to be witnessed. Couldn't confirm he'd voted as there was a 'system failure', can't go back and check, one sign in only allowed. O/seas votes favour the left. Don't they?

30% of adults don’t have passport or license & it’s quite complicated to enrol online without those. Hence why 450,000 people enrolled & voted during early voting last time. It’s an easy in person thing to do without RealMe etc. Lots find out they’re not enrolled when they vote.
So the Kangaroos are just going to get bailed out by the NRL refs & officials every game ? Because it’s happened 2/2 times already. More of a parade than an actual World Cup really.
Dubhead & myself will be giving Hallertau Riverhead the honking holiday weekend warm up from 12.30 - 4.30. Always the finest reggaematical rhythms & JA jawns to ease the ears while the vittles & crafts go down. Book in to avoid dubwise disappointment etc

The media should stop asking politicians whether they BELIEVE in climate change and start asking them whether they UNDERSTAND it.

Agree with Asher, and the economic myths that carried the 1980s deserve naming too.
Myth one: the Government has to collect taxes and borrow before it can spend. It doesn't. NZ issues its own floating NZD and spends by crediting accounts. Tax and bonds drain money afterwards.
Myth two: the Government is like a household. Councils and families can run dry. The Crown can't be forced to.
Myth three: the debt is a burden. It's the settlement cash the Government issued itself, sitting on Treasury's books as "Borrowings".
Myth four: no money for nurses, hospitals or state houses. The money was never the shortage. Real capacity is the limit, and austerity manufactured the shortage of nurses.
Myth five: the ratings agencies keep us honest. Same firms that stamped AAA on subprime junk. Money grows on trees, what it buys does not. Inflation, imports and the exchange rate are real limits. Solvency never was.
Neoliberals said there's no money. They just gaslit the gullible.

This is Apartheid.
It's morally disgusting - and comes at the same time as Israel is committing an ongoing genocide.
To see the Labour Government defend Israel repeatedly will horrify the British public - it cannot go on like this.

Joshua Michael found an access token on Flock's public website.
No login required. No authentication. Just sitting there.
He downloaded Flock's entire database. 300,000 device locations. 170,000 cameras. 130,000 other hardware units. 27,000 acoustic detectors.
Made a map. Published it September 23.
The Senate held a hearing on Flock the same day. Cited Michael's research.
Flock panicked.
Sent a cease-and-desist. Used a brand-protection vendor called Doppel to claim trademark infringement.
The map said it wasn't affiliated with Flock. Doppel didn't care.
Michael's site went dark.
Then Proton moved it to Swiss servers.
Now it lives on protonmcp.org. Untouchable. Uncensorable. Hosted by an encryption company in a country that doesn't care what Flock wants.
The irony is crystalline.
Flock left an access token on the internet. Michael used it to download their own data. Published it. Flock tried to suppress it.
Proton said suppressing it is suppressing information.
Which is true.
The map shows Flock has 150,000 more cameras than they publicly claimed.
Shows acoustic detection units mapping human speech across the country.
Shows which police departments have access to the whole network.
Flock doesn't want that visible.
So they tried trademark infringement.
Which only worked until Proton decided transparency matters more than Flock's feelings.
Now everyone can see exactly how many cameras are watching their car. Where they are. Which cops can see them.
Michael warned Flock about the exposed token in November 2025.
Flock ignored him.
Then got mad when he used it.
The surveillance company that claims to protect privacy just tried to suppress the only map showing how much they actually surveille.
And failed.
‼️ Proton is hosting a map of 300,000+ Flock surveillance device locations that Flock tried to get taken down.
Researcher Joshua Michael says he pulled them from Flock's own systems via a token left open to anyone.
Proton calls the takedown "an attempt to suppress information."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know

HEBRON IS UNDER SIEGE. FAMILIES ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES.
Since yesterday, at least 250 families have been displaced in Hebron, including my own sister, Hayat, and her seven children. Homes and shops are being demolished by the Israeli military.
Around 250,000 people are trapped in the city, while 1,000 families in H2 remain in their homes.
We are being collectively punished for something we neither did nor supported. Our suffering is being turned into political material for Israel’s elections, while innocent families pay the price.

This is not Gaza. This is Hebron today.
The Israeli occupation has begun destroying Palestine’s economic capital, a city that accounts for 75% of the country’s production in the stone and marble, leather and footwear, plastics, glass, oils, dairy, and gold industries.
Ethnic cleansing is being inflicted on the Palestinian people everywhere across the land of Palestine.
