Not a single insult, slur, mockery, or malicious attempt at character assassination against any freedom fighter who sacrificed everything for India’s independence should be tolerated on Indian soil. Disagree with their ideology if you wish, debate their politics if you want but degrading the men and women who endured imprisonment, persecution, exile, suffering, and sacrifice for this nation cannot be passed off casually as “freedom of expression.” It is an insult to our history, our national gratitude, and the sacrifices upon which independent India stands. Those who contemptuously describe India’s freedom as “independence received in alms” are not merely making a political statement but they are ridiculing an entire freedom struggle and trivialising the blood, suffering, and sacrifices of countless Indians. Such deliberate contempt deserves a firm constitutional and legal response. And we respect Swatantryaveer Vinayak Damodar Savarkar with equal conviction. Every great personality who contributed to the making and awakening of Bharat deserves respect. Who then has given anyone the right to humiliate these national figures merely because it suits their ideological convenience? And for those who speak about Savarkar without understanding the history or the suffering behind the words “Kala Pani”—look at the price that was paid: the death of his four-year-old son, the death of his sister-in-law in 1919, confiscation of property, both brothers imprisoned in same jail at same time, his wife waiting for 18 years, and communication reduced to barely a letter a year. And that is only a fraction of what that family endured. Then compare this with the prison facilities and legal privileges available to prisoners in present-day India including, as cited in the present debate, yoga in Tihar, regular telephone and video calls, and temporary bail for a wedding in Umar Khalid’s case. And after drawing such comparisons, people still have the audacity to sneer at Savarkar with the term “Maafiveer”? STOP THIS NONSENSE…!! India needs a clear and stringent legal framework under which the deliberate, obscene, malicious, and defamatory vilification of any recognised freedom fighter is treated seriously under law irrespective of whether the offender belongs to the Left, the Right, any political party, ideological camp, or social group. Requesting all to Pl act on the FIR registered regarding this heinous act. Debate their ideas. Question their politics. Examine history critically. Disagree as strongly as you want. But no one should presume that ideological disagreement gives them a licence to spit upon the dignity of India’s freedom fighters and national icons. Ramchandra in 1962 was ceremonially inaugurated in my voice, giving this timeless creation a renewed resonance for today’s generation. The passing of Padmashri Dr. D Y Patil is not merely the loss of an eminent educationist; it is the conclusion of a remarkable chapter in India’s journey of institution-building, philanthropy, and nation-building. His life was a living testament to the transformative power of vision, compassion, and unwavering perseverance. I consider myself fortunate to have received his affection and love on numerous occasions. Among the most cherished moments of my life was when Dada conferred upon me the prestigious Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) through his esteemed university in Navi Mumbai at D Y Patil Stadium. His generous appreciation of my musical journey and my contribution to society, expressed during that memorable ceremony, remains etched in my heart forever. Another honour I shall always treasure is his thoughtful contribution to my biographical work, “Bharatvakya,” a book that was later inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri @narendramodi ji. I also fondly remember being invited to perform at his university on the occasion of “Matrudivas”, where I was felicitated by the former Chief Minister of Bihar and current Member of Parliament, Shri @NitishKumar. Those occasions reflected not only his respect for art but also the genuine affection and encouragement he always extended towards me and my music. His life beautifully balanced intellectual excellence with spiritual wisdom, administrative brilliance with human compassion and leadership with humility. That is why his influence reached far beyond classrooms & touched countless lives across generations. Although Dada is no longer with us in person, the institutions he built, the values he upheld, and the lives he transformed will continue to carry his legacy forward. I pray to the Almighty to grant sadgati to this extraordinary son of India and bless his noble soul with eternal peace.
