Near Talanta Stadium, Kenol Stage this morning — a speeding car flew off the road, over the pavement and into a mound. A lady waiting for a Ngong matatu was hit unaware. Her arm was severed. She died on the spot. The front passenger never even blinked. Gone too.
The driver was drunk. He stumbled out of the wreck still holding a bottle. Two more bottles were found. Two other passengers were rushed to hospital injured.
How many times will we keep saying “it was just one drink”? How many innocent people waiting by the roadside must pay for someone else’s recklessness? When do we finally stay alert — every single time?

A country that sees its people as mere bodies, disposable.. I mean even a slaughtered cow gets some rites before it’s killed, a prayer a soothing whisper.. this one just kills and moves on.. a road doesn’t matter if it only leads a loved one to the cemetery.. this country man!

This country.. you will die and just become a statistic on the news.. a building fell people still trapped, a bus killed 20 people.. and everyone is just.. only your loved ones mourn you, this country will kill you and not even say your name one last time .. 😢.

A 13yr old on social media telling strangers she’d rather die than go live with her biological dad, 2am in the morning… but nobody is seeing anything wrong with why she’s online at those hours & running her own pages when there are countries that ban SM for kids til they hit 16.

In 1974 Mobutu used more than $10 million to organize and finance the Rumble in the Jungle heavy-weight boxing match between Mohammed Ali and George Foreman at Stade du 20 Mai.
The event was attended by some 60,000 people which gave Mobutu a perfect propaganda opportunity to entrench himself and his rule.
54 years later, Ruto, often called Mobutu ya Kilgoris has also decided to pick from the same playbook, using more than kshs 790 million to host an inaugural friendly football game in Talanta Stadium Nairobi between Bayern Munich and Ajax.
Like Mobutu, Ruto is also expected to take advantage of that event and use it as a propaganda platform and tool to try cleaning his soiled image and reputation of his failed presidency.
The more things change, the more they remain the same.

Literature remains undefeated. What Ruto is doing with Talanta stadium is exactly what Mr Tumbo did in Betrayal in the city and also what Meya Majoka did in Kigogo. Organize grand events at high costs while failing to address the basic grievances of the local people

Kenya spends billions on defence, yet where is the value for money? Ethiopia is acquiring advanced fighter jets while our biggest visible achievement in some barracks seems to be a sign reading “THIS IS A PROTECTED AREA. NO PHOTOGRAPHY.” 😂
