When @jshap9 and I were just a coach and an athlete spending time growing his passion for baseball into @Team_BL101 he would always ask if he could do something for me for the success The brand was having and I would joke:
"When my advice gets you to $1,000,000 you can give me 1%"
We would both laugh and go home.
This week we realized we passed $100,000,000 for the year.
Officially a 9 figure business
Emotional moment together on a team call as everyone was saying how great other people were this week.
I used to say a quote a lot in the early days:
"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, in both cases you'll be right"
We believed.
We believed in each other.
We believed in our people.
We believed in the brand.
We believed it was possible.
I dont take any of this for granted. We are very lucky.
Very lucky that a young boy came into a gym to change his life.
Our lives would never be the same.

Dream collaboration with @Team_BL101 & @Minecraft.
I've got 3 boys in elementary school. I know what they're getting for Christmas.
Grateful to partner with @jshap9 & @TheBillRom.
🤖 Made with AI
Its not software that will change the most its hardware
After six years in stealth, Atomic Machines is out. Our mission: on-demand, universal command of matter. First beachhead: the Matter Compiler, an AI-native manufacturing system that builds working micro-machines from code alone. No per-product tooling. No process development. Different code, different machine.

Leadership isn’t about your title, the number of people who call you “boss”, or how much power you accumulate.
Leadership is being a person that effectively influences how other people think and act.
The proof is in the pudding. Do you inspire change in others?
After a weird week I am finally getting to @beanstalkHQ and it will have taken me 2.5 hours and I will be late 😭

David Wright vs. Derek Jeter through Age 30. Only people aged 30+ lived through this and fully understand what was taken from us...

Nike stock tanking and people not wearing Nike are two entirely different things but my timeline doesn't know that.
Absolute bangers from 26-30

2. Yes?
3. Also yes?
4. Maybe.
5. Yes
6. Nah
7. Overblown
8. Sure
9. 100%
10. Tricked? Was no one paying attention?
11. In some ways. If you can build a monster though no shot.
12. Overblown
13. I Lean yes
14. Unless you concept something that surprises
15. 1000%
16. FINALLY!!!
17. Media buying should be cheap, little skill today
18. Wouldn't disagree.
19. But almost every brand below $20m should do it
20. It's communication always
21. Marketing should absolutely be a part of demand planning, however that looks I don't care.
22. This is why TV isn't a bad idea for 99% of brands
23. I thought top funnel didn't exist 👀
24. Incremental lift feels so stuck in an ecom 1.0 mindset. It's just marketing. Trying to SaaS analyze every dollar is distracting. Everything matters, but not everything matters all the time.
25. This is why ASC “retargets”, no?
Bonus
26. Our industry needs less newsletters and more results. A lot of mediocre marketers spending time writing/podcasting instead of growing brands.
27. An Organic content machine solves your ad problems
28. DTC ecom is dead. Digitally native means born in ecom, it doesn't mean that's your only tool
29. Most advice is from a scale at all costs era. It's mostly wrong imo.
30. Execution is overrated. So is grinding. You can dig the perfect hole, faster than anyone, with minimal waste, and still never hit oil, because you didn't know how to find it. Knowing how to find oil is more important than being the best digger.
We did 30 million 2 years ago and will pass 200m this year with no help, no debt and have changed a culture and inspired dozens of other products to follow us.
Insane to think about this here having a drink and seeing that its only going to be faster.
42 and 6
Not a basketball stat line, nor an NFL score.
Today Baseball Lifestyle will be named the 42nd fastest growing private company in America.
The 6th fastest growing CPG brand in the country, all by @Inc on the INC 5000 list.
I read my first INC back in college, as the idea of entrepreneurship became more than a lemonade stand and flipping books and DVDs on ebay. When we started growing, @jshap9 and I had our sights set on seeing where we stood against the field. We couldn't have guessed it would be this high.
Today, I get to stand at the NASDAQ opening bell ceremony and celebrate the hard work, determination, and grit of the hundreds of employees who have helped BL101 become the brand (and business) it is today.
We've known we were moving fast and building something special for a while now, but today confirms just how special it is.
This isn't the end. Heck, this isn't even the middle. We are still in the early innings of building an iconic brand, and I couldn't imagine doing it with anyone else but Josh, Melissa and our team at @Team_BL101
Alright hear me out
- 4/5 year rookie contracts, no gaming the rights. Draft a college player, 4 years and they can move. HS it is 5. Pushes for debuts sooner or thr pmayer can sign a new deal that pays them well. Makes FA pool larger.
- salary floor = 50% of the highest 5 teams from previous season. Makes the cheapest team competitive still.
- Develop a loan system at the break. Teams can bid for services. Bad teams make money, good teams get the player they want. No rights transfer. Lets a disappointing single season not blow up the whole thing.
- no more than 5% of team salary can be deferred, no longer than 5 years. Obvious reasons here.
- In a perfect world? 8 teams are relegated with a mid-season championship earning 2 years minimum in top league. More revenue for league, more excitement. Feels like the NBA cup, these will matter some day.
- These teams get 50% of shared revenue pool but top 8 draft pick every year. More than 7 years in relegation your team is up for auction. You have to be in the game.
- No contracts longer than 10 years.
- All international signings are highest bidder, not a choice. MiLB signings follow MiLB contract rules stated at top.
Deferred salaries are penalized in current competitive balance tax until completed. Aka Dodgers pay roughly 1.4B annually for their team with the dollars going to the other teams until right sized.
If Dodgers file bankruptcy current ownership is still personally liable to all contracts in full.
Clean. Easy
And people have the gal to talk about Bobby Bonilla @herrmanndigital
The Dodgers really owe $1.1 BILLION in deferred money to players 😳
They'll be paying:
⚾️ Shohei Ohtani: Until 2043
⚾️ Mookie Betts: Until 2044
⚾️ Blake Snell: Until 2046
⚾️ Freddie Freeman: Until 2040
⚾️ Will Smith: Until 2043
⚾️ Kyle Tucker: Until 2045
⚾️ Tommy Edman: Until 2044
⚾️ Teoscar Hernandez: Until 2039
⚾️ Tanner Scott: Until 2039
⚾️ Edwin Diaz: Until 2047
Wild.
