To the West Virginians wondering why this is happening? Thank an elected Republican.
More than 4,000 West Virginia children have lost SNAP since the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, rebranding effort aside. wvpolicy.org/four-thousand-f…

Maybe one of the worst Dem candidates of the cycle: launched a dumb primary and then in a D plus a million year runs a lazy race against a 78 year has been/nut job, tacked way too far to the left and blew a seat that should have been in the bag.

Which seems self-defeating for an event that the president presumably wants to have TV coverage.

Fave election story so far. 1) School choice billionaires teamed up to oust a GOP legislature in West Virginia after he tried to reign in school voucher program 2) ousted legislator launches vengeful write-in campaign 3) pro-union/worker Democrat ends up flipping the seat

Gallego said crypto groups "better go talk to Sherrod Brown first" before trying to pass a crypto bill again.
"I was very clear with them when they broke off negotiations that the best deal they were going to get was in September, and that the next deal was going to be very, very hard."

Gifting Pete Hegseth a Senate seat to spare him the embarrassment of impeachment and otherwise deserved scrutiny would be a really boneheaded way for Blackburn to kick off her governorship.
NEW: Republican sources in Tennessee tell me President Trump is “encouraging” Governor-elect Marsha Blackburn to appoint Pete Hegseth to her U.S. Senate seat.
Blackburn could resign imminently.
That would let outgoing Governor Bill Lee name Hegseth quickly and give Trump time to get a new Pentagon chief confirmed during the lame-duck session.

For those who care about random fun facts about races Rachel Fetty Anderson actually did win some counties in West Virginia
Timothy Bellman retweeted
Rachel Fetty Anderson raised $35k compared to Shelley Moore Capito’s $8.75m
Fetty Anderson had less funding support than many state house candidates around the country and was outraised by *250x*
West Virginia still shifted 21 points towards Democrats and 3 counties flipped

LOL. The Federalist Society wants to loophole their way into another SCOTUS seat after Trump lost Mississippi? Hell no. Hope they like ACB because with 56 Dem Senators its gonna be a long long time before this cartel gets another justice.

Statement from former Justice Dept officials at Justice Connection about Harmeet Dhillon's demise
“Harmeet Dhillon has been the most destructive, lawless, and hateful head of the Civil Rights Division in DOJ history. After she upended the division’s mission-critical work, the civil servants who dedicated their careers to protecting vulnerable communities were instead told to target them – and more than three-quarters of the division’s lawyers left. Dhillon wielded the enormous power of the Justice Department to threaten universities, state and local officials, and election workers in spurious cases that rarely won in court"

There’s a real irony in Republicans hoping that the late mail votes in Mississippi will rescue Cindy Hyde-Smith — just months after the RNC sued to void Mississippi’s ability to count late-arriving votes and lost at SCOTUS, 5-4.

Reestablishing deterrence. That is the MOST IMPORTANT task that lies before us. There must be a cost, a penalty, and lasting accountability beyond simply losing an election after breaching the public trust so radically. If we fail on this, we may never have another chance.

I’ll go even further. If you stylistically and rhetorically liked Rubio and Toomey in 2010 (I did!), Ossoff and Talarico are much closer to that than anyone Republicans currently have (including the 2026 version of Rubio!),
Cornyn op-ed on what went wrong:
"The second forgotten lesson was even simpler: Be likeable. We are no longer in 2010, when articulate, appealing conservatives like Marco Rubio and Pat Toomey challenged “establishment” candidates over real policy differences. Today, it is fringe challengers who play down voting records and policy in favor of performative politics. A strange reverse personality test has taken root. If a candidate talks like an affable, reasonable person, he must be a sellout. If he makes bizarre comments or has past scandals, that’s considered authenticity." wsj.com/opinion/republicans-…

Not yet callable, but Mississippians are well on their way to electing their first Black U.S.Senator since Reconstruction.
(And they clearly do not want to pick another protein).
Per the Mississippi Free Press, Democrat Scott Colom leads incumbent Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith by 1,138 votes, up from 65, with 96% counted. Votes remain in Democratic-leaning Hinds County and thousands of affidavit ballots.
>95% Reported
🔵 Scott Colom – 464,926 (49.0%)
🔴 Cindy Hyde-Smith – 463,788 (48.9%)

Bad policy, bad character make bad politics: erratic tariffs, impulsive Iran war, blanket pardons, apparent corruption, weaponized justice, ICE brutality, mountainous deficits, hiding Epstein, abandoning allies and coddling enemies. Hoping for a course correction, for the country and for my party.

Dear Democrats,
You do NOT have a mandate to go woke and give your extreme base whatever they want.
You are RENTING this coalition. You do not yet own this coalition.
Don't make the same mistakes Trump made after winning in 2024.
Govern accordingly
