Either way, I Bonds are going to get a very attractive annualized composite rate for six months, either 5.51% or 5.41%. Can't beat that in the T-bill market.
The U.S. Treasury will reset the fixed rate on Series I Savings Bonds on Nov. 1. The current rate is 0.9%. One forecasting theory says the new rate will be 1.4%, but another says 1.3%. Why the difference? tipswatch.com/2026/10/25/the…

Thursday's 10-year Treasury yield decline of 0.193 percentage point (to 4.952%) is the largest single day yield decline since March 10, 2023, which is the day Silicon Valley Bank failed.

Treasury's auction of a new 5-year TIPS got a real yield of 2.367%, caught in today's down-drift in yields. When-issued prediction was 2.36%, so demand was not stellar. Confusing day for the Treasury market.
Today's T-bill auction results: 4-week, investment rate of 4.012%, down from 4.068% last week. 8-week, investment rate of 4.096%, down from 4.132% last week.
I had a friend with a Toyota Avalon, a car you rarely see. Probably around a 2015. "Hey, this is really nice, what is this?" was my reaction.
Real yields are dropping fast this morning. Ahead of today's 5-year TIPS auction, the most recent 5-year is now yielding 2.45%, down about 7 basis points from yesterday. Lots of volatility pre-auction.

Also today, reopening auction of 20-year Treasury bond: High yield of 5.469%, up from 5.420% last month. When issued prediction was 5.460.
