Labour comes up with a totally new plan to help businesses that I’ve never seen before - cut red tape! Why haven’t last 20 chancellors thought of that? Oh, wait a minute…

A reminder that welfare spending as a percentage of GDP is at 10.6 % currently and was at 13.5% when the Conservatives were in charge. 55% of claimants are pensioners, most of whom vote Conservative.
🚨 Britain's benefits bill is ballooning out of control. Every meeting of Labour MP’s is about “…who can we tax more to give more benefits to others” Labour are sacrificing our national security in order to maintain this completely unsustainable welfare system. We need to get Britain working again.

Just like the old East India Company, these robber baron companies, presided over as they are by unaccountable oligarchs, are more powerful than Sovereign states. They have contempt for us.
Google illegally cleared an estimated 250,000 trees across 330 hectares of forest in Muhos, northern Finland, to prepare for a new AI data center before completing mandatory environmental impact assessments And another 150,000 trees felled at Otanmäki theguardian.com/environment/…

Earlier this week I approached a journal editor to propose an article on the 'crisis in academic marketing'. He would normally have said yes, but he had to turn me down for fear of repercussions. He didn't want to be seen to be 'taking sides' amidst mass sector redundancies.

The govt (Lucy Powell) is talking about Holocaust Education in schools. I've written four books for children/young people on this and made a video with photos, maps and documents. I'll be interested to see if the official Holocaust Education bodies carry on ignoring these.

Yes, these and so many other social and political events are not reported especially S America or Africa. We increasingly get a very narrow, child-like view of the world from BBC news.@proofnotes @sophgaston @Sam_Arkim @URESG76 @LizWebsterSBF

Seems to be mind-set, reinforced by negative or positive language, that Government "regulation" is bad and private "enterprise" is good. Current politicians seem totally unable (or unwilling?) to unpick this. @RegenerationEX @EuropeanPowell @Deirdre39079668 @URESG76 @proofnotes

Over 500,000 people marched in France last weekend. The vast majority were unmasked and white. They were protesting against the cost of living and poor public services. Don't fall for the rightwing spin.

El historial de versiones del documento. 214 revisiones. Tampoco. No denuncié a nadie.

How to destroy your departmental rival in 3 easy steps: 1. Make serious allegations. Evidence optional 2 Let rumour do the work while your rival’s reputation burns 3 Count on HR to swallow the story if you’re an institutional favourite A major problem at many universities now

It looks like a set for a dystopian movie or a secret laboratory, but it's actually the Opera and Ballet Theater in Cheboksary, Russia. There's something fascinating, yet at the same time completely eerie about this architecture. 🎭🥶

NEW Britain’s missing sovereign wealth fund… Treasury officials have modelled that had the UK done what Norway did with North Sea revenues, there would be a £1 trillion fund… As Chancellor sets up Energy Wealth Fund, a look at the long historical argument about where the oil windfall went, including from interviews with those who have run Norways $2.4 trillion fund, now the biggest in the world, filled from the proceeds of the same North Sea. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm4g…

A welcome reminder that the bond vigilantes in politicians' heads are often hedge fund, impatient, price speculators who do well when price up and lose their job when price down.
