Yesterday at @The_TUC 2026, @unitetheunion's motion on Industrial and economic policy carried.
We need immediate change.
End the freezing of the tax thresholds, introduce a wealth tax for our public services, invest in British industry and renationalise our energy.

✊ In 1979, aged 16, Jane led a campaign to get pictures of naked women ‘off the wall’ in the factory where she worked.
The same factory later became the first workplace in the UK to introduce full maternity pay for 39 weeks, bringing women into engineering.
🏅 Today @The_TUC recognised Jane’s work with a gold badge at #TUC2026
👏 Congratulations from all at Unite

Members of the Windrush generation helped staff hospitals, transport networks, factories, schools and public services.
Their work, skills and determination helped shape the country we know today.
Windrush Day is a reminder of the importance of dignity, fairness and accountability.
Racial inequality and discrimination still affect many workers.
As a union, we are committed to challenging racism, defending workers' rights and building inclusive workplaces

True awareness means checking our collective agreements and challenging employers. We need to be educating our reps and ensuring that trans members are safe and seen on the job. That is the core work of a trade union.
