Andy Burnham’s first real test is the Budget. Labour has a second chance, but hope must mean real change workers can feel. That means money back in people’s pockets now and investment to rebuild British industry and create good jobs. The question is simple: who pays? It’s time workers stopped footing the bill. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/b…

Capita's running of civil service pensions goes from chaos to calamity. @unitetheunion will continue to highlight Capita’s incompetence and pressure ministers to bring this service back in house at the earliest opportunity.

🚨The failed Liz Truss budget cannot be an excuse for doing nothing Political cowardice wrapped up as sensible politics will not be forgiven. The working class are demanding change now, not warm words and little action. 1/5

The markets will adapt if we have a plan based on investment in our industries, including buy British. How are we going to build the new industries and jobs for the future, if we just tinker around the edges? 4/5

We are already way behind other countries. We can’t keep allowing the ‘computer says no’ brigade to drag Britain into a doom cycle. Progressive taxation and borrowing to invest in assets that drive jobs and growth has to be better than managed decline. 5/5

Great to be in Birmingham last night for @unitetheunion's Annual Black History Month awards. ✊ Unite’s Fourth Black History Month awards gala is truly inspiring and our union pays tribute to the many BAEM reps and activists for their vital contributions to the trade union movement.

Solidarity with our members at Apache. Apache is part of a global company which is making billions of pounds in profit. They can easily afford to resolve this dispute. @unitetheunion members will take further action on 4 November unless a fair deal is offered. #JobsPayConditions

No matter what the bond markets might expect, the working-class can't keep paying. There's nothing left to give. Next week's budget must see the tax burden reduced on working-class people and communities. #Budget

😡 @BarclaysUK are using AI to discard its loyal workforce. Employers should be focussed on upgrading employees' skills so that they remain employed as new technology changes the workplace. Instead, Barclays is guilty of taking a short-term, knee-jerk approach. @unitetheunion is working with its members to find the best way forward to reset this destructive announcement. Barclays workers deserve better than this. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm4g…

👊 Scottish Borders housing Unite members win 4% at the Selkirk-based housing provider backdated to April. This is another win which shows that we are continuing to lift the standard of #JobsPayConditions for our SBHA membership. peeblesshirenews.com/news/26…

This is a cynical move by a highly profitable company which is choosing to prioritise profit over its hardworking staff. There is no justification for this decision. @unitetheunion will fight it every step of the way. #JobsPayConditions

🏥 @GSTTnhs is one of the country's biggest #NHS trusts but is treating its staff with utter disdain. They cannot survive living in London on poverty-level wages. Our members are the backbone of the hospital and we support them 100%. #JobsPayConditions

For NatWest to impose these changes while reneging on existing agreements shows complete contempt for its workforce. NatWest must ditch these proposals and engage properly with its workers. This is yet another kick in the teeth for workers who have suffered years of real-terms pay cuts and who are struggling to make ends meet. NatWest's decision is completely out of touch with the realities facing its workforce. theguardian.com/business/202…

Great to be with @unitetheunion members at the @UniteEqualities Conference in Harrogate. Equalities is not an add on in our union, we've led on and won on key issues affecting workers, particularly our equality strands. 👇 ✅Equality reps recognised under The Employment Relations Act. ✅Fought against and pushed back the early plans to cut disability benefit. ✅Established the Unite Carers network. ✅Developed the Unite Disability Passport. #Equalities #Unite

Scotland can't continue to haemorrhage manufacturing jobs. The decision by both Resideo and Honeywell to close the joint site, and to transfer the work out of Scotland is unforgivable. Govt needs to intervene & ministers must protect jobs & communities. news.stv.tv/west-central/mor…
