If you want to be an informed voter, the size of federal spending categories and the average net profit of corps are almost as important as knowing the three branches of government. Civics classes should reflect this

Ethan Klein being a terrible person isn’t particularly surprising. Remember that he actively collaborated with hasan piker. He has always had bad judgment and I feel terrible for his wife and kids.

Leftism is when you don’t understand that fiscal and monetary policy are two different things. Purchasing treasuries on the open market is simply an injection of USD. It has 0 impact on the balance sheet. We need to put a fiscal literacy test in place to allow people to vote.

Tell me you’ve never heard of quantitative easing without telling me. 🤦‍♂️

That these people can vote is a huge problem. You expose them for being completely uninformed and all they can do is say “well what about the other things??” We need more restrictions on democracy for the sake of our economy. These people are not “pretending” to be dumb.

They do not understand that there is a 40 trillion dollar deficit which has to be paid. To them it is some “mythical” concept. They’re more concerned with increasing disbursements even more. Allowing these people to vote is truly unsustainable.
It’s funny how the mythical US debt only matters to idiots like you when it comes to doing something for the people, like universal healthcare or student loan forgiveness but it when it comes endlessly wars and funds for Israel, radio silence.

To be honest these people are laughably naive. They don’t understand how the deficit accrues, how the treasury finances the deficit, or who is responsible for debt obligations. They are completely financially illiterate with respect to fiscal policy yet they somehow get to vote.

Tell me what happened to the balance sheet with the PPP loans then pal. Where did those unpaid loans go? You're so concerned about the 'poor taxpayer' yet crickets from you on actual fraudulent loans that were distributed to some of the same ppl fighting student loan forgiveness

Yes, if you forgive student loan obligations it creates a 2 trillion dollar hole in the deficit that has to be covered by taxpayers. The real problem with leftists is not that they're 'pretending to be stupid'. It's that these people are actually extremely stupid.
And FYI, the student loan money was already disbursed. No new money was being spent in order for him to forgive existing debt. So yeah he absolutely could have chosen not to collect it just like they’ve done countless other times bank/Wall St bailouts, PPP ‘loans’ etc.

Their proposed solution? Let's incur a 2 trillion dollar hole and then inflate it away. Time to deport this moron to Argentina.

Remember folks — if someone says “we added PPP loans to the deficit, therefore we should scam taxpayers on student loans too” they’re probably an idiot.

If you think that sending everyone to university is a public good (it isn't, it waters down the curriculum and weakens the signal of the credential), then the fair thing to do is to allow students to borrow in real terms, penalize nonpayment, and make the loans nondischargable.

This prevents people who can't do basic algebra or cost:benefit analysis from drowning in perpetual interest on the public dime because they don't understand an amortization schedule (yet still somehow belong in uni), while still allowing poor people to access to elite edu ops.

Or conversely we should encourage people to get student loans on which they can default. Except no bank will underwrite those for anyone without a credible guarantor due to the default risk!!!
Replying to @VABikePacker
No loan ever has to be paid back. Thats why bankruptcy exists. EXCEPT for student loans

You’re not free when cartels are able to extort you at will and the police are complicit. I agree that it is lose / lose, but if bukele can establish long term institutions required for liberalism then it’s an improvement. See post Pinochet Chile. Bukele is evil though.

These people are not just dumb, they are gigantic assholes.
Anonymous submission: Last week, a group of activists disabled the OMNY readers at the BQ Church Avenue station in Brooklyn with an automatic center punch and drill. They opened the gate so people can ride for free, and painted the cameras to protect themselves and fellow riders from surveillance. This was deliberate act of protest against unaffordable transit, hyper-surveillance in predominantly Black and brown neighborhoods, and the MTA's collaboration with the military industrial complex. YOU ARE BEING WATCHED. OMNY records when and where you travel, your photograph, name, DOB, billing address, and other personal details. This invasive tech creates a profile to track your life and travel patterns. OMNY’s privacy policy places no limits on the data it collects about you. EVERY TAP FUNDS A WAR PROFITEER. OMNY is operated by Cubic, a military equipment company making combat simulators. They sell the F-35 fighter jet training system to imperialist zionist entities like israel. The F-35 is a key weapon in israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, and all of the US's imperialist wars, responsible for massacring millions of people. FIGHT BACK. The MTA and Cubic don't deserve your hard earned cash. Take action, smash a reader, jump the turnstile, hold the gate for others. If you must pay, use cash for OMNY cards, and tap yourself and fellow riders in. This makes you all less traceable. Cover your face and identifying features. Always check for police before evading the fare. Remember, contracted security guards have no authority to stop or detain passengers. RIDE FREE, FUCK THE NYPD, AND FREE PALESTINE!

It is obviously true and he knows it, hence he blocked me. 175 base + 40k bonus is not even that high, much less unbelievable. Tepper is a good business school and humanities PhD are hardly worth the paper on which they’re printed.

best case scenario is that all the left and right populists/dsa/nazis strip each other of citizenship and jail each other and we become more sane as a result.

Now that Greta Thunberg is effectively just a flavor-of-the-week protestor, I truly look forward to her joining some of the human rights protests in China, North Korea, Iran, Africa, and Saudi Arabia. She should go and protest where the biggest gains are yet to be had.

I mean anyone who believes this has no experience in change management at a large firm.

What broken QOL measure are they using such that Buffalo is more enjoyable than Chicago in any capacity, much less by that margin?
