Dickson Honoured as Grand Patron by University of Africa SUG and Alumni, Engages Bayelsa West Youths on Peaceful Elections — Former Bayelsa State Governor, National leader of NDC and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Henry Seriake Dickson, on Thursday received an award of recognition from the Students Union Government (SUG) and Alumni Association of the University of Africa, Toru-Orua, and was decorated as Grand Patron of the association. Speaking while receiving the delegation, Dickson thanked the students and alumni for the visit and recognition. He stressed that education goes beyond serving as a meal ticket, describing it as a powerful instrument that equips individuals with the knowledge and capacity to transform society. The honour follows earlier reports of the courtesy visit, during which the Alumni Association President, Kofa Samuel, and SUG representatives commended Dickson’s contributions to educational development in the state and district. On Friday, Dickson held a series of robust engagements with youth leaders from Bayelsa West. He received members of the Ofurumapepe Youths Group (his support group in Sagbama) and the Bayelsa West Youths Congress, who came to officially welcome him and interact with him. He thanked them for their unflinching loyalty, support, and solidarity over the years. He also met the local government and ward leadership of the Bayelsa West Youth Congress, Ekeremor chapter. Dickson assured them of his appreciation for their sacrifices and the hardship, discrimination, and exclusion they have faced. He noted that these were the young men who followed his directives to work for the installation of the present administration but have since found themselves as outsiders.
