AUSTIN VOTERS 🚨 Confused why an audit proposition is on the ballot?
Rewind 7 years. No dark money. No billionaire funding. No secret meeting.
Just bad city stewardship of taxpayer money.
2019: The city auditor finds sampled homeless contracts worth millions met just 54% of their goals. Nothing was done.
2021: CMs @mkelly007 and Leslie Pool request an audit. The city spent $179M across 101+ agreements but has no inventory of them.
2022: Council terminates Front Steps, the downtown shelter operator after paying $ 43M. No audit.
July 2023: The city manager puts homelessness spending at $ 200M+. No audit.
Aug 2023: Council budgets $ 80.9M. The homeless strategy officer resigns, and the next day @mkelly007 asks for a full audit. @MattMackowiak petitions council for independent audit.
2025: Council terminates Urban Alchemy shelter contract after falsified client records, caught dealing drugs and had a deceased resident. It had been paid $ 20M+. No audit.
2025: new homeless director David Gray requests $ 100M+ annually creating a tax rate election. Defeated as Prop Q by voters. Still no audit.
2025: @SaveAustinNow organized signatures for a ballot proposition making audit to be a charter amendment.
November 3, 2026: Austin voters, “ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free”.
Vote YES on Prop “i”
If you live in Austin, it's your money. Austin's budget is $6.6B. Every family checks its own finances, and every business gets audited.
Our city should too. An independent audit isn't left or right. It's just good stewardship.
Vote YES on Prop “i”
You have to ask, why are these city officials so opposed to an audit?
Austin bars spent all week advertising "spooky vibes” on 6th street.
They delivered again with another shooting at, of all places the Voodoo Room.
Austin elected a DA to "reimagine" justice. He’s reimagined 35,000+ felony charges right out of existence.
You won't feel the crime culture he’s nurtured in Austin until you're the next victim.
Is this the outcome what 70% of Austin residents voted for?
AUSTIN MAN slams into a stopped minivan at 103 mph on Mother's Day, right in front of a cop, and kills a fire captain hours after his fifth son was born. DA Jose Garza's office asked him to pay a small fine.
Marvin Taylor was on his way to pick up his four other boys so they could meet their new baby brother. He was sitting at a red light on Koenig Lane when a Dodge Durango doing 103 in a 45 zone slammed into him and threw his van 150 feet. He died pinned inside.
The officer found the driver, Rodney Bremby, with bloodshot eyes and slurred speech and stench of alcohol.
He was charged with intoxication manslaughter, which carries up to 20 years in prison. A judge revoked his bond twice while the case was pending, and both times he was back out within two weeks.
On Monday he got 10 years of probation, community service, and $535 in fees.
Five boys have lost their father, and the man who killed him just had to pay a small fine and promise not do it again before going back home.
More reason to vote YES on Prop "i"
A 2021 NY state audit found city sidewalks screens failed deployment goals, failed to properly maintain kiosks and fell well short of projected ad revenue.
Austin finally found an audience for its screens.
The 2016 convention center ones got zero viewers.
The 2026 sidewalk screens come with a built-in homeless viewership.
Austin won’t audit the city budget, but Harper Wilde audited our downtown sidewalks and found them in need of more “support”.
Austin council member Zo Qadri wants to study why Red River businesses keep closing.
Easy fix: ask his political buddy DA José Garza. He's had a front-row seat to every crime he didn't prosecute and every repeated criminal released to roam and terrorize this area.

@DowntownATXInfo
Even plant nurseries in Austin aren’t immune from DA Garza’s cartel of criminals. Sadly they were burglarized.
One has to wonder since the owners and staff support ACT BLUE initiatives, would they reconsider their vote for soft on crime DA Garza?
Copper theft is appreciating faster than property tax increases in Austin.
Thieves hit Austin high school, crippling the entire tennis center and school parking lot.
Look at the chart and guess when @DATravisCounty Jose Garza was elected?
Did @austinairport not get the memo that parking minimums were abolished in the city?
We don't need more parking, we needed more gates and direct flights.....10 years ago.
Building parking is obsolete in 2026 and more obsolete in 2030.
Big plans. More parking. Room to grow. 🚗💛
We’re paving the way for approximately 7,000 new parking spaces with construction of the Yellow Garage, plus adding 1,500 Lot H Surface parking spaces to help meet today’s parking needs.
From expanding our parking options, to preparing for what’s next, we’re keeping our growing community in mind every step of the way. More room to park. More places to go. That’s #JourneyWithAUS!

We’ll bookmark this when @UTAustin becomes the number one public school in America.
No confusion here. Good riddance. Whoever thought teaching these classes @UTAustin was core curriculum:
- Race Capitalism
- Screening Race
- Chicana Feminisms
- Latinx Sexualities
- Gender and the News
- Queer Art and Activism
Great work @JimDavis_UT
Hey y'all, tomorrow @texasmonthly is publishing a story I've been working on for a while—a deep dive into the conservative takeover at UT. It's the Nov. cover story. If you've been seeing the headlines, but confused abt what's happening @ the 40 Acres, check back here in the AM!
Remember Austin, San Francisco ONLY began improving once their pathetic DA was recalled and awful mayor was voted out.
Remember that the next time you vote and visit and say “wow San Francisco is nice now”.
AUSTIN AUDIT 🚨: the scale of egregious cost overruns on city-led projects is staggering.
There’s no one to hold them accountable.
Vote Yes on Prop “i”
An audit of austin would say no to this absurd request.
Great work highlighting. We covered this last year when we determined hundreds of thousands of funds siphoned from the Pecan Street Festival by operators of Esthers Follies. And then they gaslit sixth street and moved the festival to Bee Cave, against the stated charter of the organization.
Austin wants to refund every dollar of a comedy club's city property taxes for five years so the club can digitize old costumes and make a documentary.
On October 22, the City Council votes on whether to give Esther's Follies on Sixth Street $182,664.
The city's own rules require a "compelling need to prevent displacement or closure." The city's reason here is that without the money, renovations "would be deferred."
But part of the money is for digitizing old costumes, scripts and video, to help with exhibits and "a documentary currently in development."
The business already got $1.37 million in federal Shuttered Venue grants during the pandemic, plus two PPP loans.
Every other business on Sixth Street pays its property taxes in full, as does does every homeowner in Austin.
The city claims a $1.6 million "net benefit” from doing this, but it’s completely unclear how the digitizing old costumes and funding a documentary adds up to $1.6 million vs letting the business compete on equal terms with every other tax-paying business.
The @ATXPOA didn't endorse you in the AG race. Neither did the guy who stole my bike, broke into my business, assaulted staff and defecated on the way out the door to walk away free.
Austin residents are counting on a strong AG to bring justice to Travis County.
An incredible honor to be endorsed by 31 local police associations as well as TMPA, FOP, and CLEAT (who together represent 81,000+ officers) the Texas Sheriff’s Regional Alliance, and many more. While my liberal opponent stood with the lawless mob, I have always stood with law enforcement.

Latest #WatsonWire: The Magic of Saving Muny. The public golf course that most of us call “Muny” is an important Austin asset. It’s officially called Lions Municipal Golf Course. For many years, there’s been uncertainty surrounding its future. Would it remain greenspace, would it stay a golf course, or would it be developed?
I’m happy to announce that there’s finally an excellent path forward that includes Muny belonging to the City of Austin and the WAYA campus belonging to WAYA.
Muny became the first public golf course in Austin when it was constructed in 1924 on University of Texas land. It’s still owned by UT. It’s been leased and operated by the City pretty much since the beginning. In 1950, it was the first public golf course in the South to desegregate, and it’s listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a civil rights landmark.

Texas school socialism finance for dummies:
- Austin ISD sends the state 52% of its local taxes ($700M in 2026)
- Plano ISD gets $250M to spare for the Dallas Stars
- Both districts are running deficits
- No further questions
- thanks #txlege
Apparently, the $ PISD is contributing to this would be lost to Robinhood/recapture. So at least by doing this, they get access to the arena for graduation & other events instead of just sending the cash to the state with nothing in return. They will also benefit from the increased tax revenue from the entire complex. If you are a fan of Abbott’s “pro business” policies then you can’t be a critic of this
Remember this plan? @UTAustin is not dumb. In 2009 the plan proposed 3.2billion development. There’s always a battle in affluent neighborhoods full of NIMBYs trying to protect single family enclaves.
