A lot of Brits online don’t even know that ILR is called ‘permanent residence’ elsewhere and countries with a far greater reputation for xenophobia and racism have it and people qualify for it or citizenship in shorter periods than they did in the UK before Mahmood’s proposals.

The usual suspects are up in arms because the John Lewis Christmas advert features two mixed-race children with their white nan.

That British culture of being two faced is sooo ingrained, how can you lure people in with the promise of ILR after 5 years after work and in the middle you turn around and say ‘oh no it’s now 10 years my bad’
Yet we are the ones that get the ‘Nigerian scammers’ tag,
pray tell who’s moving fraudulent now?
We all know what we are doing.
Lmao 🤣🤣
My ancestors worked as indentured labourers under the British Empire in Mauritius in the 1800s.
Yes it was brutal and harsh.
And it gave my ancestors the chance to earn a wage, acquire property, receive an education and benefit from healthcare- all possible thanks to the British Empire.
We cannot keep teaching our young people a one-sided view of history.
I trace the history in my book, ‘Patriot: Empire, betrayal and hope’.

As UK is lashing immigrants, Australia is lashing british immigrants too, they are asking them to return home, that they’re lazy backpackers overpopulating Australia😭 The thread is so funny, Brits are crying in the comments, defending their right to stay and live🤣

Good to see some coverage addressing youth unemployment as being driven by the absence of job opportunities instead of the lazy cultural explanations most of the 'NEETs' discussion has been driven by.

"Earned" is repeated across all their public communication.
You can check how often it is mentioned in the 130-page official government publication.
As if migrants, all this time, have just been getting unearned settlement at the benevolence of the British State.
It is not time for them to labour on, and then "Earn" their freedom.
Language is a weapon.
Under the Earned Settlement model set out before Parliament today, the right to live in the UK permanently will no longer be granted automatically after five years.
Instead, it will be earned.
Under the reforms:
➡️The standard route to settlement will double from five to 10 years
➡️ People who enter illegally, including by small boat, face a wait of up to 30 years to settle
➡️ Care workers who meet the visa requirements will retain a five-year route
➡️ Higher earners on more than £50,000, skilled public service workers and refugees arriving on safe and legal routes will be able to settle in five years
➡️ Migrants who claim benefits face a 20-year wait for settlement
➡️ Migrants with a criminal record will be prevented from settling in the UK
➡️ Migrants will be required to meet A-level standard English to settle in the UK
Your name is Kemi Badenoch?!!!
Shabana has made a serious mistake surrendering to Labour MPs. So I’m putting people on notice - when we get into government we will scrap this weak policy.
Immigration is too high. Labour are making a bad situation much, much worse.
The Conservative Party is under new management. I accept this problem started under a previous Conservative govt. Many of those in that Cabinet have gone to Reform where they belong.
And I’ve got a proper plan to fix it👇
