The Art Deco details of the Hoover Dam are incredible. One of the most beautiful pieces of American infrastructure ever built.

Been quiet this year, so I thought it would be a good time to talk about some of the technical work we have been up to post seed announcement:

People use vastly more stuff when it's cheap. It sounds completely obvious, but seeing the data mapped out across twelve orders of magnitude of volume and cost makes the trend incredibly striking. This is probably as close as you can get to a law in economics or manufacturing.

many of the best enthusiast cars in the world were made by very small groups of engineers. Bob Lutz has mentioned before that the productivity of an automotive engineer working on an enthusiast product goes up by like 5x
my last company had >10,000 engineers when i joined neuralink, the robot team had 11 mechanical engineers the midjourney scanner was made by 9 people you would be surprised how much a small team can get done, as long as you have the right people recruiting is the greatest ROI

Artificial Intelligence unlocks much more capacity for you to pursue any outcome you want. And for the foreseeable future, it still requires humans to steer it towards those outcomes. As both companies and individuals realize this, their existing approaches will start to seem "constrained", and many more of them will begin to parallelize their pursuits of different outcomes to understand what's possible. There will be many more pivots and evolutions like this. Many companies and individuals will blend things together that were never blended before. Our understanding of what's fundamentally possible for a company or an individual is about to shift a lot.

Wow Rachel, you’re genius super-sleuth! Nobody knew before you discovered it, that I chaired Build Toronto before starting my campaign. I was so afraid people would find out. This will surely be a career ending controversy. It would be absolutely awful if people read some of the memos I co-wrote on topics like: - Dynamic signaling for traffic lights to reduce congestion by 20-30% - Congestion pricing to keep highways moving at 50km/h to give people back their time - Simpler rules for creating multiplex units for ownership, to facilitate more housing for middle class families - Better public incentive compensation for top bureaucrats to improve state capacity and delivery - How better rules on park conservancies could make many public spaces more animated and better - How platform screen doors could make Toronto’s subway system safer and up to 30% faster These are just some of the many far-right policies we championed, of course.
Speaking of the broligarchy’s project to influence Canadian politics… I just noticed something VERY interesting about an Ontario Liberal leadership candidate that’s confusing everyone with that ambition given his right-wing policies and anti-immigrant language:

The clear plastic bar right above the (damaged by age) screen in this camera did exactly that. It was super easy to take pictures in direct sunlight because the sunlight itself illuminated the screen. Always wondered why nobody else ever did this.

@loombotic We’re launching the world’s first quick-turn, high-mix, fully automated wire harness production line. Our goal is to make wire harnesses as fast and easy to order as PCBs or sheet metal. Customers can already upload a harness design and get an instant quote. Starting today, these parts can now be produced on our automated line. We’re starting with Mini-Fit Jr., with more connectors coming soon.
