The final version of our study on inflammatory regulation of tunneling nanotubes between neuronal cells and microglia is now out in @NatureComms. We identified the cGAS-STING pathway to positively regulate functional connections between these cells

A fruitful collaboration between @ZurzoloLab and @ConsiglioLab.
Super happy to see the final version of our study online. What started as a summer project in 2023 culminated into this, wherein we assessed the basis of directional α-Synuclein transfer from neuronal cells to microglia

Happy to share our work (final aspect of my thesis). We tried to understand why neuronal and microglial cells upregulate TNTs in the presence of α-Synuclein aggregates? Turns out inflammation has a major role to play in the process! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Massive thanks to @Veronicatesta96 , Jara Montero-Munoz, and @ConsiglioLab for a fruitful collaboration. It was amazing working together
We now have an updated version of this story - new experiments and analysis added!

Delighted to share a second part of my Ph.D. work. As a follow-up of our previous observations, we wanted to understand the reason behind directionality of aggregate transfer between neuronal cells and microglia. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Consequently, autophagy flux was inhibited in neuronal cells (and not in microglia). We hypothesized that autophagy dysfunction could be one of the reasons for directional aggregate transfer, and it indeed was.
Had a great time working with with Philippa on this story, with fantastic support from @ZurzoloLab
Highly recommend the @ZurzoloLab. If you are interested, or know someone who might be, feel free to contact the lab, or me directly
Post-doc position alert! My lab @institutpasteur is hiring post-docs for different projects related to #TNT research in #neurodevelopment, #neurodegeneration, and #fundamental cell biology. If you are looking for one, or know someone, feel free to contact me. Spread the word!
It was fun to be able to correspond with @biopatrika for this piece. Thank you for reaching out!
📢 New Author Interview Alert! 📚
🎙️ Check out the exciting interview with Ranabir Chakraborty (@_ranabir), the first author from the lab of Prof. Chiara Zurzolo at Institut Pasteur @institutpasteur , Paris, France, on #Biopatrika! 🇫🇷🔬
The Euroglia conference @gliameeting starts soon in Berlin. If you're attending, come around for my poster on Sunday. I'll give you some gossips on what neuronal and microglial cells are talking about
