George Hemmings back in the starting XI. As reported on @TheAthleticFC last week, a new contract is on its way, reflecting his improved standing in the squad. Pretty shrewd recruitment from #AVFC's youth recruitment department to sign him on a training compensation/tribunal fee a few years back from Nottingham Forest.

This snuck in. 49% tax on interest for saving your own tax-paid money??? A truly abysmal tax. The OBR numbers following this budget are truly horrific! #Budget2026
NEW. Additional tax on savings interest (outside of your personal savings allowance and cash ISAs) from April 2027
Basic rate taxpayer: 24% on savings interest and property income
Higher rate taxpayer: 44%
Top rate taxpayer: 49%
So the fact the cash ISA is staying at £20,000 per year is even more important. #Budget2026

Aston Villa can reach the League Cup quarter-finals for only the second time in 14 seasons this evening. Bournemouth have also won their last four matches and lost just once at home this term, but haven't beaten Villa on home soil in over four years. Intriguing tie...

This is a pretty serious offence. What it means is that an MP has deliberately broken the rules in order to prevent a party leader attending the budget. Not funny at all…
Nigel Farage was unable to attend the Budget in the Commons because his seat reservation was removed, The Telegraph understands.
The Reform UK leader’s prayer card — a green slip of paper that backbench MPs put on a spot on the green benches to reserve their seat — was moved after it was placed this morning.

Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Farage's prayer card lacked a valid date stamp and was removed per House of Commons protocol. MPs confirm seats were available unreserved and he did not attend prayers to secure one.
