With personal agents like Claude Duet and Meta Muse on the rise, understanding how user involvement shapes agent behavior is increasingly important. We uncover a counterintuitive finding: having a user in the loop can actually induce more agent misbehaviorโ๏ธ

Super excited to share our new paper: Reward misspecification degrades chain-of-thought (CoT) monitorability!
During RL training, when the model is prompted with one task intent (e.g., response โค 900 words) but rewarded for a different or even contradictory behavior (e.g., response > 900 words), the CoT keeps reasoning about the task intent while the output violates it.
We also propose a simple mitigation method that requires no prior knowledge of the true reward or the reward hack behavior. ๐งต

Agent coordination remains one of the greatest challenges in AI, so glad to have seen some fundamental breakthroughs. Crazy stuff by @Mao_Yuzhen
Agents are becoming increasingly powerful, but does adding more agents actually help us solve tasks more efficiently? In many everyday settings, the answer seems to be: โHmmโฆ not really.โ
Reintroducing DeLM, much faster, more capable multi-agent systems through decentralized coordination. โก
Compared with our first version in early June, the updated paper expands the evaluation beyond SWE-bench to include Terminal-Bench 4.0, DeepSWE v1.1, and ProgramBench!
A quick recap: DeLM enables parallel agents to coordinate through a shared context and a task queue, with no main agent in the loop. Agents share discoveries, reuse intermediate results, and correct one another as they work, reducing both idle time and redundant work.
Evaluated on 10 long-horizon tasks each from Terminal-Bench 4.0 and DeepSWE v1.1, with GPT-6-Astra and Claude Opus 5.5, DeLM improves accuracy by up to 17.5 percentage points over the strongest baseline, while running up to 2.49ร faster than the harness it builds on. On ProgramBench, where agents rebuild entire programs from scratch, DeLM beats Claude Code's test pass rate by up to 19.9 points within the same 120-minute budget.
Weโre open-sourcing our code and all DeLM trajectories so you can explore how this collaboration unfolds!

Excited to share our work across protein design, RNA design and evaluation, efficient LLM agents, and multimodal safet
Hereโs what we explored ๐
๐งฌ 1 | Grounding protein generation in physics
<Equivariant Force Field Calibration for Flow-based Protein Design>
Generative models can produce protein structures quicklyโbut physical plausibility remains a critical challenge.
This work combines differentiable force-field guidance with consistency-based training to calibrate flow models toward low-energy, sterically valid conformations. Across full-atom generation and peptide binder modeling, we improve physical plausibility and geometric stability while enabling sampling with very few steps.
๐งช 2 | Learning RNA design preferences from physical feedback
<Pareto Preference Optimization for Structure- and Stability-Aware RNA Inverse Folding>
RNA design requires satisfying several objectives together: structural fidelity, local accuracy, and thermodynamic stability. Optimizing one metric can create shortcuts that undermine the others.
We introduce RiboPO, a preference optimization framework that constructs preferences through Pareto comparisons, uses structural gates to guard against compositional reward hacking, and fine-tunes an RNA inverse-folding model using DPO.

๐ 3 | Testing whether RNA design scores deserve our trust
<Multi-Oracle Agreement Reveals the Limits of Self-Consistency Evaluation in RNA Design>
What happens when the predictor used to optimize a sequence is also used to evaluate it? Across approximately 11,000 RNA designs, we find that 78.1% of designs from single-objective optimization pass one predictor yet fail another. Ensemble-based methods reduce this disagreement substantially.
We introduce ACCORD, an evaluation workflow that combines independent predictors and calibrates their disagreement against experimental chemical-mapping data.

โก 4 | Making LLM agents more efficient by changing how they act
<Latent Action Reparameterization for Efficient Agent Inference>
Agent inference cost depends on both the cost of each decision and the number of decisions required.
LAR learns compact, executable latent actions from recurring patterns in agent trajectories. This shortens the effective decision horizon, reducing action tokens and inference time while maintaining or improving task success across the evaluated benchmarks.

๐ก๏ธ 5 | Understanding the safety implications of thinking with images
<When Think-with-Image Meets Safety: What Determines Multimodal Jailbreak Robustness?>
As vision-language models increasingly reason through visual operations and external tools, their inference pipelines become part of the safety question.
Across the evaluated models, explicit image-tool interaction reduces jailbreak success by around 30% relative on average. Representation analyses and activation interventions support an account in which tool invocation shifts hidden states toward a safety-relevant direction.

Excited to share ๐จ๐ป๐ถ๐๐๐ผ-๐ฉ๐, our new work on on-policy self-distillation for multimodal model self-improvement!
The motivation is simple: as generation and understanding come together in multimodal systems, models can provide feedback on their own outputs. Can that feedback become a useful training signalโturning their ability to evaluate into improvements in generation?

โข GenEval: ๐ฌ.๐ณ๐ฐ๐ณ โ ๐ฌ.๐ด๐ฌ๐ด
โข GenEval2 Soft-TIFA: ๐ฏ๐ฎ.๐ต๐ณ โ ๐ฏ๐ฑ.๐ฑ๐ฏ
These gains show the potential of learning from self-generated feedback. But the boundaries are just as interesting.
๐ ๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐ป๐ด?
Experiments with stronger external critics suggest room for further improvement.
This raises a central challenge: producing feedback is only the beginning. That feedback must be reliable enough to guide learning. Understanding what makes a good critic matters for building a better generator.
Not uniformly. Text-rendering results remain mixed, even as the overall generation benchmarks improve.
Progress on one benchmark does not mean every capability improves alongside itโa useful boundary to understand when studying self-improving systems.
For me, the broader research question is:
UniEvo-VL takes a step toward answering this question for multimodal generation, exploring both the opportunities and the limitations.

Excited to share that RecursiveMAS has been accepted at #NeurIPS2026!
Amid discussions of GPT-6 Astra and RSI,
Looped Transformers are drawing great attention for their ability to scale reasoning through recurrent depth in latent space.
Looking beyond a single model, can we scale agent collaboration through recurrent depth in latent space as well?
In RecursiveMAS, a team of agents reason just like a looped Transformer: each agent acts as a layer, passing and refining latent states across collaboration rounds. We pair this architecture with innerโouter loop training so the team learns to collaborate as a whole through recursion.
We aim to make recurrent collaboration a new scaling axis for collective intelligence, combining stronger reasoning with faster inference.

Introducing Contrastive Language Model (CLM): an ultra-fast System One Model trained with a contrastive learning objective that connects states and actions.
CLM-8B is pre-trained on internet-scale data and delivers up to 9ร faster inference than Jev โก while achieving comparable performance across computer-use, gaming, and tool-calling tasks.
With lightweight fine-tuning, CLM-8B sets a new SOTA on challenging agentic coding benchmarks, such as DeepSWE (81.6%) and Terminal-Bench 2.1 (87.6%). In contrast, Jev fails to serve as an effective verifier for these long-horizon tasks.
We also build an efficient training and serving infra for CLMs by disaggregating states and actions, allowing their embeddings to be cached and reused independently. This substantially reduces inference latency in settings where the state evolves continuously while the action set remains fixed.
Finally, we establish scaling laws for CLMs and show that the test contrastive loss decreases predictably as a power law in training compute, model size, and dataset size.
