Here I am again :)
Looking for product/founding engineer, full-stack or applied AI roles in SF/NYC.

Two weeks until Election Day!
It's fun talking politics on X, WhatsApp, and Slack with people who follow this stuff closely. But most voters aren't in those conversations, and reaching them is how we win.
Make sure you vote, and share the @GrowSF guide!

SF wants to take over PG&E’s power grid, saying it can improve service and lower bills.
But PG&E says it could cost over $20 billion, and while they have reason to inflate that price, we still don’t know the real cost or how the city would run the grid.

Our filings released this morning show that GrowUSA has raised $1.9 million to support Scott Wiener for Congress! And that's just through September 30. 👀
We've watched Scott spend years fighting to build more homes and improve public transit. He actually cares about making SF a better place, not just for us, but for our kids and the generations that come after them.
Meanwhile, Chan has almost nothing to show for her time in government.

Letters I've received from my bank recently:
- 43 reminders that I've chosen to go paperless
- 36 notices of nothing in particular
- 1 immediate, urgent task that will permanently destroy my credit if left unresponded to for >3 business days

Democrats must make cities work. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Cities are where Democratic Party idealism meets cold hard truth. Real solutions require understanding hard problems at a deep level - not pandering. Suicidal empathy will simply destroy our cities. Politicians need to spend more time figuring out how to make an impact in the job they have rather than the job they want. Press has to call balls and strikes rather than pander to subscribers or a reporter’s personal politics. The solutions won’t be found in DC. We have to solve our own problems. Don’t let guilt or misguided compassion force you to support policies that don’t work. Intention isn’t as import as results.

A shift in how i work - before i'd do a task and then if i wanted to later do it again, ask Claude to review the session or outputs and create a skill.
Now I do the entire task in Grok Bot the first time, iterating with it and hill climbing the output until I am satisfied to ship the output and am left with a agent that does the task automatically.
Just as I predicted
Rumors are Apple is going to release a “HomePad” in a couple weeks: a speaker with a screen. The attached image is what the rumor mills have cooked up.
A device like this would have been cool 5 years ago, but now this seems so dated and points more to the failure of Siri. Voice is the only input that matters.
Love Apple, and I hope they surprise us with something better than this. We will see.
We endorse Darshini Patel for District 8 Supervisor. She’s outcome-driven, reads the research, and thoughtfully engages on complex issues. She’s strongly pro-housing and will fight for more shelter and drug treatment facilities that the city needs.

When it comes to the SF Fentanyl crisis, the problem isn’t the government, it is us.
We’ve told our government to arrest drug dealers and house/treat drug users.
In the past 3 years we have over 1700 dealer arrests, almost 5000 people given housing, and 25% increase in treatment (and we have excess supply of treatment).
Unfortunately that strategy hasn’t worked. And it won’t work.
The drugs are too cheap to produce and transport and the dealer labor supply is infinite.
Giving a user housing doesn’t magically cure their addiction and scaling drug treatment in places where drugs are easily available and cheap is highly ineffective.
This is a complex problem and we need a more sophisticated solution.
Everyone points to Zurich as the best case study. But advocates put too much emphasis is on safe consumption sites and almost none on the role of the police.
We are going to have to better educate ourselves about the problem if we are going to expect better solutions from our government.
