Through sustained and tireless efforts to prevent and control Marburg virus disease, and in accordance with the standards set by the World Health Organization, no new cases have been recorded for 42 consecutive days.
As a result, we have successfully contained and controlled Marburg virus disease and decisively mitigated the associated risk.
On today’s occasion, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Honorable Mr. Tagesse Chafo for delivering the opening remarks at the Marburg virus disease response recognition, review, and appreciation forum.
I also express my gratitude to all leaders and participants who honored our invitation and took part in this important program.
Our health professionals, healthcare workers, and leaders across the health sector served tirelessly; day and night; under extremely challenging conditions, often placing their own lives at risk in the line of duty.
On behalf of myself and the Ministry of Health, I extend my deepest appreciation to all professionals, leaders, and stakeholders for their exceptional dedication and commitment.
In particular, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of our health professionals, staff members, and community members who lost their lives in the course of protecting and safeguarding our communities from Marburg virus disease.

🇪🇹 had an active and productive presence at #UNGA80, where we engaged leaders and partners on the most pressing global health priorities.
Our participation emphasized the critical links between climate and health, the need to strengthen primary health care and emergency preparedness, and the urgency of addressing noncommunicable diseases and mental health.
We also used the opportunity of bilateral and multilateral meetings to reaffirm Ethiopia’s commitment to resilient health systems and to advancing progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.
Looking forward to building on this momentum and deepening partnerships that put health at the center of sustainable development.

It gives me great pleasure to share that 🇪🇹 has achieved Maturity Level 3 in medicines regulation, as recognized by the World Health Organization.
Reaching this level is more than a technical achievement. It strengthens public confidence, enhances our ability to respond to health threats, and brings us closer to the resilient health system our communities deserve. It also aligns closely with Ethiopia’s agenda for local manufacturing of medicines and vaccines, ensuring sustainable access and self-reliance.
This milestone serves as a testament to the collective action and hard work of @ EFDA and our partners, who together have strengthened the systems that guarantee the quality, safety, and effectiveness of medical products in our country.
We will continue to build on this progress, guided by our unwavering commitment to protect the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Thank you, Amb. Massinga, for the productive discussion on strengthening 🇺🇸 🇪🇹 collaboration in the health sector. I look forward to deepening our partnership as Ethiopia works to build a more resilient and sustainable healthcare system.
Ambassador Massinga met with Minister of Health H.E. Dr. Mekdes Daba, to reaffirm the U.S. government’s continued commitment to supporting #Ethiopia’s health sector — one of the largest areas of U.S. foreign assistance in the country.
The meeting also celebrated the recent renovation of Ethiopia’s national health hotline center building, which can be reached by dialing 952. This vital service provides the public with health information, counseling, and psychosocial support.
The U.S. is proud to work closely with the Ministry of Health to strengthen the country’s health infrastructure and outreach. We are committed to advancing assistance through innovation— including forward-thinking local innovation from the Ministry.
Our goal: to promote sustainable programs that support Ethiopia’s path to self-reliance, with the Ministry leading the way.

ALT Cells captured using the capsule sponge coupled with biomarkers to risk-stratify patients with Barrett’s oesophagus were removed from the sponge by shaking and washing, pelleted, and clotted using plasma and thrombin and made into a paraffin block; sections were stained for H&E and p53 and analysed by pathologists; all patients with Barrett’s oesophagus were stratified into low-risk, moderate risk, and high-risk groups according to their clinical and capsule-sponge biomarker data (figure created with BioRender.com).
