Germany's relations with China are an excellent study in realism. It took decreasing German exports to China to make Berlin tougher on Beijing. But, that toughness was instigated by German corporations that were losing market share. It was too little, too late. And, it was commercial and unrelated to the totalitarian regime's lack of democracy and human rights. The democracies' lack of ethics in their international politics and trade is not only eroding their moral high ground, but could eventually destroy their material prosperity as well. theepochtimes.com/opinion/wi…

It's never too late. German business will adapt and outdistance its Chinese copycats. The question is whether German politicians can get beyond political correctness and lower the boom on the Chinese competition, be as assertive vs Chinese megacorps as they were vs the US postwar

The Confucius Institutes are part of a political apparatus the CCP uses to "break and shatter the enemy." Keeping the pressure on the united front system's efforts to evade U.S. countermeasures is an unequivocal good. But why leave it there? Many other similar organizations exist, but we (and our allies & partners) largely ignore them.
The War Department has designated Confucius Institutes as a threat to our national security.

An interesting phenomenon with the Russians is that they don’t reciprocate favors when the US offers them.

The reality is Ukraine hitting Russian refineries has not increased the price of diesel in the US. Deregulating, issuing waivers at home, etc will add more oil to the global market. Same with allies.
Ultimately, energy prices will be most helped by unleashing America's domestic production - something President Trump has made great strides in doing. Russian diesel likely won't make much of an impact - but unfortunately, it will help Putin.

If the president wants to negotiate to end Russia’s war against Ukraine, then the U.S. should be meeting with Europeans + Ukraine to compel Russia to stop.
“If the President wants to meet with Xi Jinping and Putin to talk about Ukraine, I think that would be a serious mistake. If you want to do something like Yalta, then you have meetings among allies- the United States with the Europeans, with Ukraine, trying to figure out what to do about Russia.” @RLHeinrichs on @AmericaNewsroom Newsroom discussing a potential summit between Trump, Xi, and Putin. “This would be the first time that the United States has had to deter two nuclear powers at the same time. During the Cold War, we had the Soviet Union. Now, for the first time we have China and Russia…. So if the President wants to talk about that, that makes a lot of sense.”

Hasan should face the death penalty, but making his execution public and streaming it? Beyond disgusting. Public executions are what oppressive dictatorships like Iran and Afghanistan do. It should not be happening in America.
The U.S. military plans to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, the ex-Army major who was convicted of the 2009 killing of 13 people at Fort Hood, when he faces a firing squad on Dec. 3, a Pentagon official said. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said earlier Thursday the Pentagon planned to make the execution public. Hasan's case could mark the military's first execution of an American service member since 1961.

Beyond irresponsible. What part of enforcing a law passed 86-11 by the Senate does the President and his advisors not understand? It’s unconscionable that this administration is capitulating to a Russian dictator who illegally invaded Ukraine and butchers innocent civilians every single day. If the President wants to actually bring down energy prices, he can do it by solving the Iran problem, not by doing a solid for Vladimir Putin. apnews.com/article/russia-sa…

China-linked scam syndicates are stealing Americans' retirement and life savings while corrupting foreign governments to shield their operations from law enforcement. Chairman @RepMoolenaar’s bipartisan Dismantle Foreign Scam Syndicates Act would dismantle these transnational criminal networks and protect Americans from CCP-backed exploitation.

The Iranian regime has the blood of Americans on its hands, and there is no doubt that it was racing to a nuclear bomb. @POTUS made the difficult and courageous decision to confront that threat. Iran’s leaders now face a choice: abandon their nuclear ambitions or face continued economic and military pressure.

Twenty-five years after 9/11, is Canada’s national security culture fit for purpose? Senator Housakos raises a question Canadians cannot afford to ignore. Join us this Thursday, October 22, at Toronto’s Albany Club. @MLInstitute’s @sherylsap sits down with Phil Gurski (@borealissaves) for a fireside chat on jihadist terrorism in Canada—then and now. MP @shuvmajumdar joins Ches Parsons, former RCMP assistant commissioner, and our expert panel to examine what Canada must do next. I’ll be your MC. Canada needs policy grounded in national security: confronting jihadist terrorism and IRGC-backed threats, resisting economic coercion from China and Russia, and securing critical minerals and reliable supply chains with trusted allies. Our security, prosperity and way of life depend on getting this right. Bring your questions. Join the discussion. Reception: 5:30 p.m. Programme: 6:00 p.m. Concludes by 8:00 p.m. Reserve your place: [add ticket link] @SenatorHousakos @scoopercooper @Charles_Burton @anderscorr @Terenceshen @stphnmaher @StephenLeDrew @cbcwatcher @andrew

To safeguard U.S. innovation and protect our national security, Chairman @RepMoolenaar introduced the Securing Innovation and Research Act (SIRA). The legislation prohibits federally funded research partnerships with restricted foreign adversaries, restricts the sharing of sensitive dual-use research, and increases transparency and oversight to prevent foreign espionage and technology theft.

This is the way to get China to stop militarizing the South China Sea. Call attention to its illegal activities.
CHINA ALWAYS ACTS AGGRESSIVELY, REFUSES ACCOUNTABILITY, AND THEN PLAYS THE VICTIM China cannot keep escalating tensions in the West Philippine Sea, portray its actions as justified, and then accuse the Philippines of provocation whenever Filipinos demand accountability. Now, Beijing wants recognition for allowing an injured Filipino to be evacuated on humanitarian grounds. While helping an injured person is the right thing to do, it does not automatically justify every action taken before that evacuation—or exempt China from legitimate scrutiny. Humanitarian assistance is not a license to intimidate. A repeated accusation is not proof. And playing the victim does not erase accountability. Instead of dismissing Filipino criticism as disgraceful or malicious, China should welcome scrutiny and provide credible evidence to support its version of events. The Philippines has every right to question conduct affecting its personnel and maritime rights. The bigger issue is the pattern of rhetoric: assert aggressive claims, defend controversial actions as lawful, and then accuse the other side of provocation when challenged. The Filipino people will not be silenced by accusations, pressured into gratitude, or persuaded to abandon their maritime rights. We demand facts, transparency, accountability, and respect for international law. China can continue playing the victim, but the facts—not political rhetoric—must determine who is accountable. 🇵🇭 THE PHILIPPINES WILL NOT TRADE ITS RIGHTS FOR CHINA'S APPROVAL. #BRPSierraMadre #WPS #WestPhilippineSea #StandWithThePhilippines #UNCLOS #RuleOfLaw #SovereignRights #AccountabilityMatters #DefendOurMaritimeRights #NotOneMore
