SATURDAY SHARE - GARY BURNS
Gary Burns was 39 years old when he went missing during the summer of 2016 from Icmeler in Turkey. He is originally from Birkenhead, but had lived between Icmeler and Marmaris for several years after starting a relationship with a Turkish female during a holiday. The relationship fizzled out after two years, but he decided to stay because he had work, made good friends and was settled.
Described as approximately 5ft 11in in height and of slim build, with brown eyes and dark brown greying hair. Gary speaks with a Merseyside accent. He has a small tattoo on his arm and possibly one on his wedding ring finger.
When Gary’s family made contact with Turkish authorities and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, it was established Gary was last seen on 5 August 2016 and his last known workplace was The Vodka Bar in Icmeler. They also discovered in the previous weeks he had been missing work and failed to meet with friends, which is completely out of character.

Always the small clubs like KR & Wakefield moaning about something in our game when they should just count themselves lucky to be allowed to join us.
He’s some fella, incredible.

He was born in Billinge (The St Helens Side) and his hero's are saints legends Paul Scunthorpe, Steve Prescott & Keith Leyland (RFL website) It says Wigan because he comes from that referee service area. He hates us 😔

Genuine question. Hasn’t an investigation already been conducted?

And for clarity, having asked the RFL earlier today on Leigh's owner by the way (as I suspect others have), I understand there will be some governing body comment at some stage today/tomorrow.

🚨 POINTLESS STAT OF THE DAY #068
Phil Foden was sent off after 23 mins at 0–0 yesterday.
Man City then scored. And won. 🔴⚽️✅
So naturally, I went looking for the earliest PL red cards at 0–0 by a team who STILL went on to win. This is what we uncovered......
🥇 3:11 Harry Maguire, Leicester v Burnley (2019)
Leicester played virtually the entire match with 10 men and won 2–1. This remains the earliest PL dismissal by a team that went on to win.
🥈 9' Iain Turner, Everton v Blackburn (2006)
The goalkeeper was sent off. Everton brought on teenage keeper John Ruddy and still won 1–0.
🥉 10' Vincent Kompany, Hull v Man City (2014)
City went down to 10 at 0–0. David Silva scored THREE minutes later. City won 2–0.
4️⃣ 13' Idrissa Gueye, Man Utd v Everton (2025)
Sent off for fighting his own teammate. Everton still won 1–0.
5️⃣ 20' Duncan Ferguson, Everton v Bolton (2002)
0–0 when Big Dunc went. Everton responded by scoring three and winning 3–1.
And after disappearing down the red-card rabbit hole, Everton appear to be the specialists.
Our trawl of the PL era has them just pipping Arsenal for wins after receiving a red at 0–0 although with Everton and Arsenal also joint-top for all-time PL red cards, perhaps they've simply had more practice. 😂
Use this information wisely. 🤓

Can I get a few reposts for this. Very hard to get publicity for books when you aren’t famous
⚽️ The Smell of Football books TWO and THREE from the legendary trilogy by the brilliant @MickRathbone the former Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers and Halifax Town player turned physio.
2️⃣ Book two of three is the searingly honest and unputdownable sequel to the award-winning The Smell of Football. In this engrossing and moving but often hilarious memoir, Mick ‘Baz’ Rathbone picks up from where his acclaimed debut tome left off.

🏟️ There are great stories of the likes of David Moyes, Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Bobby Charlton and the late, great Ray Clemence.
3️⃣ In the third book, Mick concludes his riveting football trilogy with a 100-day diary starting in the early 2024/25 season.

📚 This book shows just how much the players and officials really do care and just how painful and emotionally draining defeat is. It is an honest account that brings to life the day-to-day running of a professional football club.
