I should point out that one of these senior army bands'men' was the wonderful lt col Lauren Petritz-Watts. Apologies.
Have just spent the most uplifting lunchtime listening to an incredible band @RAFMusic regiment and extraordinary soloists in annual soloists competition. The very worthy winner, judged by 2 senior army bandsmen and @classicjacko was Robbie Mars playing Sholem-Alekhem. Brilliant.

The breadth of range in his clarinet, and the sound he made playing this wonderful Bela Kovacs piece, was simply staggering. If my orchestra's principal clarinet is ever unavailable, we won't have far to look. 🙂

Back from a weekend in corfu scouting locations for our son's wedding next year. Wonderful time with the 4 of us, and we even had time on Monday to hire a self-drive boat where son and I swum in the warm Ionian Sea. Also discovered mosquito repellant doesn't work!

"Is that all?" comment from Mrs I when plaster was removed this morning. Yes, but I was under the knife! 🤣

Had a wonderful evening at Saint Jacques restaurant in St James Street with my old mucker Mike Reed and the elder statesman of promoters Raymond Gubbay. Raymond in excellent form and there were many wonderful stories circulating from all three of us.

Why on earth do people want a Prime Minister who does emotion? I'm really sorry Andy Burnham's dad has died but that can't be the basis for every sodding government policy. This country doesn't need emotion, it needs some sensible policies. Sure, Andy Burnham talked about lots of policies in his speech. But most of them are trivial or will damage the economy - and he won't ever actually do most of them anyway. It's mostly long grass stuff that he'll drop when the going gets tough. Yet so many people on X and media commentators will be full of praise for an emotional speech from an emotional Prime Minister who has yet to do anything that suggests he is even vaguely up to the job.

The future of the Inglis clan is in safe hands with granddaughter. We just don't know which branch she's going to follow.

The lady singing is Lisa Westscott. Phew, I knew I'd get there in the end
The tune of course is Hundreds of Girls from the show Mack and Mabel by Jerry Herman.
