"The first beautiful thing about expectations investing is, it actually reverse engineers the process. One thing we know for sure is the price, and then you basically are asking a simple question: what has to happen for this price to make sense?" @mjmauboussin

Amazon leveraged a negative cash conversion cycle to build a tremendously capital-intensive business. Seems that many are inspired by the latter and forget about the former.

Hey @mjmauboussin and @amaub Another downside to using natural language terms to express probabilities. Not only do people disagree about what these terms mean, they also treat them as additive rather than taking averages.
If people receive two numerical probability forecasts then tend to take an average (so 50% and 70% → 60%). But if they receive two verbal forecasts (likely + likely) then they tend to combine them, so that an even becomes “very likely”. A clever paper: papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.…

We should look at drawdowns relative to long-term volatility. In 2008, money market funds broke the buck when their values dropped to 0.90-0.95. Not much in absolute terms but a whip-out relative to their vol. Both vol (short-term) & draw-down (long-term) management are important
