August 2025 I requested HSE documents relating to Gosport under the Freedom of Information Act. HSE said it may hold documents missing from the Gosport Independent Panel archives, but refused to release them.
My request after they refused an internal review it took the ICO’s case dates from October 2025 but it was not until October 2026 that the ICO asked HSE to respond.
The ICO said yesterday an IT disruption is preventing HSE from responding and has given it 10 more working days: until 10 November under IC-477675-M9T1 and 12 November under IC-581424-H7H6. And if HSE’s systems are still down, it may ask for more time, which the ICO may allow.
How long can this go on? These documents should have been released to the Gosport Independent Panel. If HSE supplied them, why were they left out of the report or archives? Was that the Department of Health’s decision?
This Panel was presented to the families as the cheapest and fastest way to get to the truth they wanted a Art 2 public inquiry to which there has never been over hundreds of deaths Yet eight years aft DH Report, families still waiting for Operation Magenta to charge someone 🤔

#Gosport scandal concerns hundreds of patient deaths. 1989-2021 HSE did not itself investigate them.
We have submitted lengthy submissions following complaints through HSE’s Tier 2 & Tier 3 process.
Deputy Director, Alan Craddock, wrote on 2 September 2025:
“I appreciate that this may not be the reply you seek, but I do need to ensure that our limited resources are effectively used, and where they can, achieve the greatest impact and the police have a very significant investigation under way.”
It is deeply disturbing to see HSE cite “limited resources” when it had not conducted its own investigation into the circumstances surrounding hundreds of deaths at Gosport and not imbedded in this 5th Police Investigation. HSE has also refused FOI requests having discovered they hold documents not released to the Gosport Independent Panel—or, if shared with the Panel, not released into the public domain. What are they hiding?
What a journey they have put us on to obtain justice for our Mumsy, only for us to find ourselves back where we began in 2000. #Gosport

•2013-Families & Hampshire Coroner called for a Public Inquiry the DH tell Hampshire Coroner categorically NO
•2014-Families endured 4-year non-statutory inquiry

We have gone full circle, only to find ourselves pending Operation Magenta and the CPS.

Professor Baker Report was completed in October 2003 but not placed in the public domain until 2 August 2013—almost ten years later.
Its findings were deeply disturbing. Of the 81 Gosport patients sampled, 76 had received an opiate before death and 72 had received diamorphine. Opiates were used across a wide range of conditions, frequently prescribed in advance and, in some cases, administered without evidence of a careful assessment or the recognised stepped approach to pain relief.
Professor Baker concluded that an “almost routine use of opiates before death” had developed at Gosport and that this practice had “almost certainly” shortened the lives of some patients. He recommended that investigations into individual deaths should continue because his findings reinforced concerns about what may have occurred.
Families were left without this crucial report for almost a decade. Why was evidence of such gravity kept from those whose relatives had died?
Baker also recommended obtaining the working rota of Dr Barton and her GP partners to examine patterns of death more closely. Yet no resulting rota analysis, or full practice-level investigation at Forton Medical Centre has ever been disclosed.
Why was this crucial line of investigation not pursued, and who decided it should go no further?

Hello Barbara 💕
Your husband is one of those cases that will always remain firmly in my mind it is so disturbing, moreover before your family could come to terms with what had occurred they were requesting body parts.
The woman who administered the injection in front of you disappears without trace. It’s a horror story in a place of safety #euthanasia
Replying to @ann_poppy @Jeremy_Hunt
Hello Ann. The two women most closely connected in our case used false names - neither could be traced on any data-base recording the identities of health- care professionals. The woman who administered the lethal injection claimed to be a Registrar.

Hello Mel, Thoughts with you sending our love and strength 🕊️#VictimsOfGosport #Gosport
This sounds so familiar “whether urgent recommendations are needed on observations”
When Gosport Independent Panel report was finally published in June 2018, it came with a vast online archives thousands of documents, more than a million pages in total. The material was riddled with duplicates, chaotically indexed, and scattered across folders so disordered making it almost impossible to navigate, if you didn’t know who to search. The so-called “transparency” was overwhelming in its opacity: a blizzard of paper that buried the coverup and crucial evidence under sheer volume.
They had a plan; shame on those who sat on that panel.
This 8-year 5th Police investigation remains on that road creating paperwork while 100’s letters for answers sighting the evidence is coming from us… It’s becoming intolerable.
Today, the Lampard Inquiry begins hearings to consider whether urgent recommendations are needed on observations, monitoring technology, emergency response and resuscitation in mental health hospitals.
Behind those words are people who should have come home. My son Matthew is one of them.
Nearly fourteen years after his death, I am still fighting to establish the truth about his care, how he was found and what happened when he needed help.
For families like mine, these hearings concern the most basic promises of hospital care: that someone will check on your loved one, recognise when something is wrong, call for help and know what to do.
Technology cannot replace listening, compassion or properly trained staff. An alarm only protects someone if it brings a timely response.
I want these hearings to lead to clear, enforceable action—with named responsibility and checks that changes actually happen.
Families have already paid the highest price. Patients in hospital today cannot wait years for safety.
Matthew was loved. He had a life ahead of him. His death must lead to more than another report and another promise.
I will keep fighting for truth, accountability and care that protects people.

We will always remember them #VictimsOfGosport 🕊️
They may all still be locked together within the political entanglement that has surrounded Gosport since families engaged 1998-2026, each institution bound to the decisions and failures of those that came before it with 100’s dead.
But we are no longer intimidated by that web of officialdom. If anything, every unanswered question, every withheld document and every attempt to ignore and pass responsibility elsewhere has strengthened our resolve.
We will keep pulling at those threads until the truth is finally told to this family. We have provided a mass of evidence from every angle. This letter from the CPS in 2011 is gaslighting and not true; written when we challenged the enormous amount of evidence they withheld refusing to engage. Mum’s case was to go first to the CPS as a “pre-read” — an advance case for prosecutors to examine while the remaining three priority cases were completed after. @bee_devine @VictimsOfGospo1 Victims Right Review (VVR) is this what one can expect from our justice system?

And when 100’s are killed without their consent, outside any #euthanasia framework, those responsible are protected, it is already too late: they are gone in a blink.

WHISTLEBLOWER CAUGHT THE FRAUD, THE NHS CAUGHT AMNESIA
Sharmila Chowdhury @sharmilaxx gave the NHS 30 years of clean service. Not one blemish. Then she did something apparently unforgivable.
She noticed two consultant radiologists at Ealing Hospital, run by London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust @LNWH_NHS, billing the NHS for shifts they were actually spending at a private hospital down the road.
Getting paid twice for the same hours is fraud everywhere on earth.
Everywhere except, apparently, inside an NHS complaints process.
She reported it.
To her line manager.
To the Medical Director.
To the HR Director.
To Counter Fraud.
To the Chief Executive.
To Number 10.
To the Treasury.
She built a paper trail so solid that ITV @itvnews later sent an undercover team into the same hospital years on and filmed the same consultants still taking cash from patients for private ultrasounds on NHS premises.
The Trust's response to all that diligence was to sack her, based on counter allegations later shown to be fabricated.
The man behind those allegations reportedly signed off an email too crude to print here.
He picked up a Top Mentor award from the Trust that same year. Nobody writes comedy this good on purpose.
Sharmila took it to tribunal and won. Won the appeal too.
A judge ordered the Trust to reinstate her. The Trust said no. She was then quietly blacklisted across the NHS.
One job offer was withdrawn the moment they worked out who she was. Legal costs hit £130,000.
Somewhere in the middle of it she developed breast and lung cancer, which her doctors link to years of sustained stress.
The two consultants kept their jobs.
George Osborne could not get involved.
Andrew Lansley could not get involved.
David Cameron could not get involved.
Every one of them filed it under employment matter, Whitehall for we would rather not know.
A proven fraud case, covered by ITV @itvnews, the Guardian, Daily Mail @DailyMail, Channel 4 News @Channel4News, the Independent @Independent, BBC News @BBCNews, the Times @thetimes and the Daily Mirror @DailyMirror.
The official position of Her Majesty's Government was still not our problem.
This is the reward system.
Report fraud, lose your career, lose your health, and watch the people you reported get promoted.

Further @Jeremy_Hunt the @CPSUK didn’t go down the @H_S_E route because as this CPS note records
Paul Close (CPS) Rob Dryborough-Smith (DPP) head of our justice system 2004 advised Hampshire police to concentrate on Barton. The signed protocol ignored.
“I thought it appropriate that the police concentrated on their primary objective of establishing potential case against Dr B. If no culpability by her then hard to see how any corporate liability would arise. In any event corporate liability in this case would logically only arise by way of corporate omission (as opposed to commission) through, for example, failing to provide a proper and safe system of work, by closing their eyes to the obvious when they knew, or ought to have known, that all was not right. It may be they were on notice about real problems as a result of the ‘secret’ report prepared in 1990.”
Your £M21+ inquiry promised answers least of closure
Eight years later and another £M40+ families still uncovering evidence and how corporate liability was pushed aside and why the HSE was never brought in. That is a national disgrace.

🧵 Mum was up and dressed by seven o’clock on that fateful day. At 9am she spoke to Dr Taylor and told her that the tablets she was now taking were making her mouth sore (antipsychotic another drug mum had never taken or needed)
Yet nobody bothered to examine her mouth—something Dr Wilcock later criticised at her inquest.
That afternoon, her former daughter-in-law visited. Mum signed her pension book, and they had tea together. She had a bath and her hair washed, which Sandra dried for her.
That evening, her son Harry came to see her. They sat and chatted for about an hour. At around eight o’clock, he kissed his mother goodnight and said,
I’ll see you tomorrow, Mum.”
Harry never spoke to his mother again. By the following morning when mum woke at 7am the powerful 25mcg fentanyl patch was running at full strength. Those ordinary, loving words became their final goodbye🕊️

My mother, Elsie Devine, had never had pain and never taken so much as a paracetamol she was in Gosport for transition to come home after discharge for UTI in the Q.A. Hospital. Unfortunately all the family were in Hammersmith Hospital where my husband was undergoing a bone-marrow transplant and no one was at home where she lived with us.
At 9am on 18 November 1999, Dr Joanne Taylor recorded her as “happy, no complaints not ^obviously^paranoid”. Just 15 minutes later, a 25mcg fentanyl patch was applied under Elsie clothes unbeknownst to Elsie and her family.
Dr Taylor’s crucial documented assessment was withheld from our family for eight years. We discovered it only through our own tenacity, meticulously searching a different medical file passed to us for Elsie’s inquest. A medical file we had never previously seen and even then this was not her complete original file. More evidence through our own persistence came available in 2023.
Why, then, did the Gosport Independent Panel omit Dr Taylor’s note from Elsie’s case study portraying her with the hearsay from Dr Barton. Why was evidence that described her condition immediately before fentanyl was administered left out?
These questions still demand answers 1999-2026

Failures by police & Coroner most disturbing of all. Police accepted as genuine fabricated & falsified DNR note and letter signed by Trusts' senior figure who was under threat of dismissal for gross misconduct. I think of you often Ann and your dear Mum. Hope you're fit & well.
