I have lived all my life in Bangalore. I am as Kannadiga as one can be. Complete Kannadiga roots on both sides of my parents family. And I am saying what I am saying next given my love for my State and the language. 1. Bangalore has not become what it has become due to any single Govt or Party. It has become this despite the Govts or with the help of all Govts!! 2. IT/ITES is not a function of our weather or the Cauvery water. This is not a sector dependent on natural resources like power or mining or ports. It is dependent on an ecosystem which has been built over the last 2 decades. It could have been built anywhere! 3. I have been working with IT/ITES companies for 2 decades now. Most of them admit the talent available in Bangalore is not comparable to anything anywhere in the country. 4. The ecosystem has been built and is thriving here because the sector placed importance on merit over anything else. They hired good people from everywhere and built the base here. 5. IT/ITES companies create 2-3 times the jobs of their head count. The number of cabs (drivers/owners), cafeterias, hospitality and the general increase in economic activity has created a lot of jobs. So... looking at locals bein employed only in IT companies is a myopic view. Own case: I have been able to build a good company with nearly 50 people now only due to what Bangalore has been in the last 20 years. If it was what it was in 90s... I would have had to go to Mumbai to do the kind of International tax work that I do here. So, as a local I may not have been employed by the IT Sector but I am employed and earning well due to the IT sector. The sector that got impacted the least due to Covid was IT. In fact it expanded. The point being ... It is not a sector like automobiles or heavy industry for a factory to be fixed to a location for decades. They can work from anywhere WFH proved it. Which means that it can be relocated with greater ease than manufacturing. We can lose the ecosystem quicker than it was built. I really hope we dont take an axe and cut the branch that we are sitting on. The people wanting IT sector to employ locals are not considering the indirect employment nor the impact of the sector on our State's Economy at large. Direct employment isnt everything. The Bangalore RE sector has so many large companies today due to the IT boom. Would we had a Ritz-Carlton and a Shangri-La and a Four Seasons opening here ahead of most other cities in India without the IT Sector feeding it? Would we have been the start up capital of the world in all new-age sectors without the IT boom of the early 2000s?? What about the people they employ? Helathcare. Retail. Entertainment. Multiple other sectors. We can go on discussing the second order impact. In the 1990s... we had zero connectivity to the world from our airport. Even in early 2000s... most international travel was through Mumbai or Chennai. Remember? Today we have one of the busiest airport in the country with most important countries being a direct flight away!! What about the employment created due to this??? I hope better sense prevails. I too want my State to be the best. I too want Kannadigas to be thriving and doing well. But this method being employed now is not the way to go about it. Whatever hs to be done has to be done by an elected Govt alone. @DKShivakumar @PriyankKharge @MBPatil

#WATCH | We developed a sodium-ion battery because India is expected to deploy 3,000 GWh of battery storage but remains dependent on imports. Achieving self-reliance requires domestic cell manufacturing and a secure supply chain. Since materials account for 60% of cell manufacturing costs, we use agricultural waste from farmers to produce hard carbon, which we now export internationally: Yogesh Sharma, Professor, IIT. @PMOIndia @mnreindia #BRESummit2026

Andy Babu, keep writing fiction. His imagination runs riot. Sometimes I feel he watches too many Korean movies. This piece is straight out of The Purge, the election year edition. Haunting, gore filled, but nowhere close to reality.@business please ban @netflix & @PrimeVideo during office hours.

The expanded range will be available in Tamil Nadu from 2 November 2026. The expansion reinforces RCPL’s ambition to build its biscuit business through a diversified portfolio, accessible pricing and wider distribution. Tamil Nadu is a key market for the business, where increased production capacity will support the company’s plans to build scale and expand consumer reach. The portfolio with 28 new SKUs comprises Independence Power Up, Independence Butter Bliss, Independence Milky Power, Independence Marie Prime, Independence Coco Vanilla & Chocolate, Independence CremYum Orange, Independence CremYum Choco, Independence Coco Bourbon and Independence Glucose Boost. The range will be available in trial packs at ₹5, sharing packs at ₹10, and larger home packs priced between ₹40 and ₹125. A Kingdom Renounced, A War Unwinnable is more than an exercise in recovering a forgotten historical figure. In this compelling reconstruction, @PranavMatraaPPS revisits the Revolt of 1857 through the story of Babu Amar Singh, the younger brother of Kunwar Singh, & challenges the tendency to remember the uprising through a handful of celebrated protagonists while overlooking those who sustained the resistance after its initial momentum had faded. Following Kunwar Singh's death in April 1858, Amar Singh continued the struggle in Shahabad through guerrilla warfare, local alliances, disruption of British communications & attempts to establish an alternative administrative authority. His campaign was not simply an act of familial loyalty. It represented a sustained effort to preserve indigenous political authority in the face of expanding colonial control. This is an important distinction in interpreting 1857. To reduce the uprising to a sepoy mutiny is to overlook its regional leadership, popular participation & political ambitions. In Shahabad, the contest extended beyond military confrontation to questions of territorial control, legitimacy and the right to govern. Amar Singh's resistance illustrates the extent to which the Company faced challenges to its authority beyond the battlefield. The eventual defeat of the rebellion also reveals the structural imbalance between regional resistance & an imperial military establishment with superior resources, intelligence & logistics. Yet the inability to defeat an empire does not diminish the historical significance of challenging its sovereignty. Amar Singh's persistence is itself an important measure of the resistance the colonial state encountered. What I particularly admire, @PranavMatraaPPS, is the seriousness with which you have approached this subject. I have always believed that good historical writing must do more than revisit familiar events. It must question inherited interpretations, examine documentary evidence & recover perspectives that have been pushed to the margins. Your work achieves much of this, & I find it especially gratifying to see such thoughtful attention devoted to a consequential chapter of Bihar's history. Amar Singh may have renounced a kingdom, but he did not surrender the idea of sovereignty. Thank you, Pranav, for bringing this remarkable story into sharper public consciousness. Some chapters of history do not need embellishment. They simply need to be told with the attention they deserve. Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Extending my passion for writing to the domain of history; dedicating this one to the forefathers. Do give it a read if you are interested in Bihar’s history and contribution to the 1857 rebellion. Do also kindly leave your feedback. open.substack.com/pub/thelon…
