c22cuk COMMENT: SIMPLY SHOCKING - Government and 'ALL THOSE INVOLVED' do not deserve the support of UK Citizens until the 'Fujitsu HORIZON SCANDAL' is fully resolved. IT'S APALLING!
SHE DIED WAITING Heather Earley, mother of three, has died waiting for her money. @PostOffice kept her waiting so long she ran out of time. Impressive logistics. Lawyer @SimonMGoldberg (well worth to give him a follow) shared the sad news today. Heather Earley was one of 555 postmasters who took the Post Office to the High Court and won, and she died before getting her redress, the money owed to put her life back together. He points to a @BBCNews article from 2024 on victims who died before getting redress. Winning in court and never seeing the money is a rare talent. Heather Earley was a mother of three who ran a local shop with a Post Office counter in Mossley, Newtownabbey, in Northern Ireland. In December 2013 the Horizon computer system said she was £10,000 short. A computer said so, and in the Post Office computers are never wrong.. She says one customer kept using a flaw in the system. Every time that customer withdrew £100, the system added £100 to the balance instead of taking it off. I wish my bank worked like that. Heather Earley called the police, and the customer was prosecuted and convicted. That put the blame on the customer, and the Post Office still demanded the £10,000 from her, took money from her wages and refused to give it back even after the conviction. Crime solved, victim billed ... She borrowed from family and maxed out three credit cards just to buy stock for the shop. She cashed in £50,000 of her pension to save the house and clear her debts. Her village lost its post office and its shop, a truly generous service to the community. In 2019 the Post Office settled the group case for £57.75M. Around £46M went on legal and funding costs, which left roughly £20,000 for each of the 555 people. The judge, Mr Justice Peter Fraser, had said the Post Office at times acted as though it answered only to itself, and it seems to have taken that as a challenge. Reports say at least 350 Horizon victims have died before their final payouts, so at this pace the scheme will finish the moment nobody is left to be paid. Heather Earley wanted justice and enough money to rebuild what was left of her life. Simon Goldberg says the lawyers and other parties who held up and nickel and dimed her redress should feel nothing but shame, though shame does not appear to be billable. Stop fighting these people and pay them before it is too late. Heather Earley never got her cheque. RIP Heather

c22cuk OPINION: Absolutely - 'Money Makes Money' (however it was gained) - WE need to have a RETHINK on how REWARD for WORK and ACHIEVEMENT is FAIRLY DISTRIBUTED, and the RIGHTS TO SHARE OWNERSHIP.
Why do shareholders get the rewards when workers create the wealth a company generates? Is it time to rethink just what companies are for and to require that the rewards be shared more fairly? youtu.be/15r28WaimP8?si=oiL5…

HMRC have fucked up for years, failed its audits consistently and has a typical Civil Servant mentality towards doing the job it’s supposed to do. Now this socialist Labour Government are going to allow HMRC to take the money directly out of your bank account, just like Spain and other EU countries do - they embargo your account and because the tax office are often wrong, you have to fight to get your own money back. This is a slippery slope, no one is saying you shouldn’t pay your taxes but this enforcement is a control too far IMO #CashIsKing

Given that our Government is preparing households for what may lie ahead (images from Sweden’s “warbook”), wouldn’t it be a good idea to deliver the funding and reforms that would deter and prevent much of it happening. A war would cost us 50% of GDP. It’s 5% to prevent one.

From what we’ve seen recently of that special relationship with the government across the Atlantic, I think it’s wise to look at countries close to us in Europe & build relationships with them rather than putting all our eggs in 1 basket.

☘️The deeper certain of us dig into the Quinn family’s litigation against Anglo/IBRC, the more extraordinary the pleading history becomes.☘️ Consider this sequence: 1/ March 2015 — Supreme Court A potentially fundamental distinction emerged: 🔹the enforceability of the underlying loans was not necessarily the same question as the independent enforceability of the guarantees and securities. 🔹Yet the latter argument had not been properly advanced. 🔹Why not? 🔹Who drafted the pleadings? 🔹Who advised on this omission? 2/ May 2015 — Court of Appeal 🔹The Court reversed an earlier refusal to permit allegations that signature pages had been transferred from earlier share pledges onto documents the family claimed never to have signed. See my earlier post on the High Court case. Think about that. 🔹Documents underpinning enormous financial liabilities were being challenged on grounds going to their very authenticity. 🔹Why had the original documents and execution history not been conclusively established before enforcement? 3/ January 2016 — Court of Appeal 🔹The family’s subsequent attempt to introduce a standalone unenforceability claim was rejected, with delay and abuse of process among the reasons. Abuse of process? Hardly. 🔹So an argument apparently missing from the earlier litigation could not subsequently be introduced because it should have been advanced earlier. 🔹Who was responsible for that predicament? legal advisers surely? 4/ March 2019 — High Court 🔹Another extraordinary development. 🔹The original undue-influence case concerned Anglo officials. 🔹A proposed amendment sought instead to attribute undue influence to Seán Quinn senior. 🔹The Court refused it. 🔹Who instructed that change, and on what evidence? 🔹And where does the judiciary fit into all this? 🔹Courts are entitled to enforce procedural rules. 🔹But when litigation involves -disputed execution of securities -disputed guarantees -billions in alleged liabilities and -repeated attempts to reformulate fundamental claims 🔹surely the administration of justice demands scrutiny of what actually happened? 🔹I am not certain the courts were ever presented with the strongest properly available case. 🔹Were material allegations tested on their merits? 🔹Were the consequences of potentially defective pleadings adequately distinguished from the merits of the underlying disputes? 🔹The cumulative procedural history is deeply troubling. 🔹Was this simply catastrophic litigation strategy? 🔹Were critical instructions misunderstood or disregarded? 🔹Or is there a more disturbing explanation for how these proceedings unfolded? 🔹The original instructions, successive pleadings, counsel’s advice, discovery records and final disposition of the signature-substitution allegations deserved independent examination. 🔹And litigants should not lose the opportunity to establish the truth about disputed financial instruments merely because the case may have been inadequately pleaded by those entrusted to represent them.

Beware of finance industry lobbying. It hired PwC (the firm that delivers dud audits) to produce a report, claiming that UK banks face highest rates of tax. The report included taxes not borne by banks. Omitted countries that levy higher rates of taxes. theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

😭😭😭 The more we have, the more we crave. What a heartbreaking tragedy that greed, power, and money have become more important than compassion, kindness, and humanity. Our leaders and big corporations seem consumed by three things: ME, MYSELF, and I. In the endless pursuit of wealth and power, we forget the true blessings of life, the struggles of others, and how fortunate we really are. We forget that life is not about how much we own, but how much kindness we show, how many lives we touch, and how much humanity we have left in our hearts. 💔
