World where building a CRM for your child's little league team is a couple bucks of tokens but taking the team out to lunch is like $150.
I cannot believe the crying over the Cheesecake Factory. Obama derangement syndrome is honestly a whole order of magnitude above TDS. The dude can turn half the Republican pundits here into wailing toddlers with an incredibly tame rib.
So many people are on here crashing out defending the honor of theoretical random poor people's perception of the Cheesecake Factory. ROMAN STATVE HEADS wailing about elitism. I don't believe you think elitism is bad. I'm sorry. The bit is stale.
Trump's whole thing is making nasty digs at people. He has fully turned on PvP, be so for real. He himself would probably laugh at the joke.
One thing that's been really bugging me lately about AI writing, not because it's AI but just because it's bad writing, is the negation of stuff that nobody was saying or ever really would say.
"Every ingredient has a job on a steam table."
On the surface, this seems like an informative statement, but it's completely immaterial. Every ingredient in something always has a job. Otherwise why would it be there? The whole construction is a waste of your attention.
The scrambled eggs at a hotel breakfast are 19% water, and they're dyed.
A lot of hotels and cafeterias pour them from a carton of Papetti's Breakfast Blend. The spec sheet reads whole eggs, 19% water, then under 2% of salt, xanthan gum, citric acid, annatto color and natural butter flavor. Papetti's is part of Michael Foods, one of the biggest egg processors in the country.
Every ingredient has a job on a steam table. Xanthan gum holds the added water in the egg so it doesn't weep into the pan. Citric acid keeps the eggs from turning gray or green under a heat lamp. Annatto puts back the yolk color the water washed out. The butter flavor is there because nobody is going to add butter. The carton keeps for 98 days in the cooler.
The plain version from the same company is whole eggs, whey, skim milk, xanthan and citric acid, with almost no added water and half the sodium.
Unironically when I would argue faith with religious friends in high school it would end up here.
Wow there she is. The infamous political Brinksman-ship.
🚨 NEW: Meet Ian Brinksman, 42, a Washington, DC-based government contractor arrested by the FBI today for allegedly leaking TOP SECRET national defense information to a romantic partner who published classified material on Substack.
His LinkedIn lists Deloitte, national security consulting, and a current reserve intelligence officer for the US Navy.
"I used to be satisfied just playing video games. Then I found I required more… unusual entertainment."
"Hunting and killing live human beings?"
"No. Vibecoding useless software."
Oh my goodness this could be one for the history books, for good or ill.
Yes, this is still happening in 2026, shamelessly, openly. Writers' rooms opening submissions to only women and POC. Yes, this true of the MAJORITY of hiring notices that go out for TV. Yes, still repugnant.
Sensing a lot of overlap between people who think The Devils is an all-timer right now, and people who thought A Matter of Life and Death was an all-timer a couple years ago, and people who thought Uncut Gems was an all-timer a couple years before that, and on and on and on...
This is just everything now. Every culture argument on here goes like this.
Just for fun. Imagining how they would have titled a biopic of Empress Theodora in each decade:
1890s: The Empress of Byzantium
1900s: L’impératrice de Byzance
1910s: Theodora: The Queen Who Ruled
1920s: Theodora Gets Her Man
1930s: Constantinople's Glory
1940s: The Blades of Anatolia
1950s: Theodora
1960s: Byzantium
1970s: Theodora
1980s: Blues and Greens
1990s: Queen Theodora
2000: Constantinople
2010s: The Empress
2020s: The Woman on the Throne
Unfortunately none of these are very good, but that's showbiz.
