Yesterday my partner completed the last placement of her adult nursing degree. She was recently nominated for the British Journal of Nursing awards, a testament to how hard she has worked over the three years since she moved to the UK, following my job.

Really excited that I may one day own 50% of a new build one bedroom flat on an 99 year lease and £200 a month ground rent and building service costs for the rest of my life. teapawt.org/camillahmturner/status…

I’m in year 6 of the last help to buy scheme and about to lose £150k on my new build flat I bought for £460k (100,000s others in similar scenarios). Worst decision of my life. Will be a complete car crash.

⏳ @UKLabour’s new Government brings another – perhaps last – chance to end the drift, take control and finally make homes safe. Can leaseholders dare to hope again? Read our latest update ⬇️

Why on earth would anyone want to buy these flats when you can see how those of us trapped in the #buildinsafetycrisis are being treated. Buy a flat and you're left high and dry while being repeatedly robbed
The absurdities of trying to get profit motivated developers to solve our housing crisis just keep growing. We've now got thousands of new flats lying empty because they are so expensive and come with so many strings attached with their leaseholds, no one wants them.

Fast forward five years. Those shiny new blocks will have had countless fire risk assessments, hundreds of fire door checks, and a growing list of defects. The developer will call it "wear and tear". Now close your eyes and imagine the service charge.
Truly astonishing - Last year, Manchester City Council built more homes (4,766) than all the 32 Greater London boroughs combined (4,261).

Two years under Labour. A fourth Building Safety Minister due soon. A Remediation Bill that isn't fit for purpose. More excuses for inaction from senior @mhclg officials. Leaseholders remain trapped. We'll try to have hope, @andyburnham. But hope only gets you so far.

This man has had two years to fully implement the provisions of Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act (2024) - a legislation passed under the last Conservative government with the support of Labour MPs. I wonder why he waited until now for this 🤔
As we bring the feudal leasehold system to an end and move towards a commonhold future, we won’t leave existing leaseholders behind. Today, we’re setting out the next phase of the implementation of the Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act 2024 👇🏻 questions-statements.parliam…

One of the biggest scams perpetrated by @mhclg & @BSR_buildsafe. Every door inspection costs eye-watering amounts with commissions to agents. Every inspection fails & the cost to adjust a hinge: £300. Repeat every 3 months. Destroy leaseholders. All these officials deserve jail.
My front door has failed its annual inspection, for the 3rd time. Only 6/30 doors passed. The same company which charged me £300 a year ago has found a new defect. Lucky for me though they can fix it, at a premium of course. In case anyone wonders why leaseholds aren’t selling

Why are retirees like former ICU Nurse Manager Adeline having to spend a well earned retirement in fear of: "being burned alive", "bankruptcy" & "homelessness"! How can this be happening in a civilised society? #BuildingSafetyCrisis #UKHousing youtube.com/watch?v=e8nFg67W…

This is Matthew Pennycook’s last-minute application to keep his job as Housing Minister under the next PM. All we’ve had from him is foot-dragging, excuses and watered-down reforms. Andy will need an insurgent willing to take on the rentier interests, not be swayed by them.

The very best of luck with your new life abroad. I'm still trapped in a @PersimmonHomes death trap in Wales with absolutely no end in sight and eye watering Waking Watch charges.

Good luck! I bet there's many more could exit the uk too. Within the next 4 years I retire and i will definitely be exiting... The country has always been bad but by constantly pandering to the already wealthy it has become unbearable!

Today is my last day in the UK - I start a new job overseas on Monday precisely for this reason, because I am locked in the #buildingsafetycrisis with no end in sight, this Labour Government and previous Governments have failed so many - nothing has improved for me. @mtpennycooke
🚨 The @mhclg remediation programme has been downgraded from AMBER to RED. Successful delivery now "appears to be unachievable". Two years in government and @UKLabour is going backwards. Hundreds of thousands remain trapped in unsafe homes. And they call this change?

The National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA) has downgraded the government’s cladding remediation programme to a red rating, warning the programme that work “appears to be unachievable”. constructionnews.co.uk/build…

This is not good enough !! Leaseholders are left stranded over summer AGAIN. Dumped with yet another complicated consultation to complete on 'quid pro quo' leases with still no valuation consultation. What is going on @mtpennycook

“Most leaseholders are burnt out. It’s hard to have any faith that anything is going to change,” A £208k bill. Nine years fighting. Now more defects, more costs and a year forced out of their homes. @mhclg still making buildings half safe & forcing innocent leaseholders to pay.

Trinity Estates have just raised our SC by over £400pa, taking the cost to nearly £4000pa in a flat worth less than £100k. This is more than 15% of my pre tax salary. Without urgent action we will lose our home this year @mtpennycook @SteveReedMP
