I took Forbes' reported team revenues in 2025, subtracted luxury tax payroll in 2026, and then subtracted the average difference (estimates average fixed costs) multiplied by a cost of living factor for each metro area. This, I believe, gives the true "cheap" teams list...

TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

This has been a part of my problem for a while. Empirically, there is no correlation between spending and winning. Exactly the same with the shift. Fans just want to *feel* better...but remember, the shift did nothing to fix that problem, as the league acknowledged it wouldn't

If you remove the Dodgers from the equation, there's NO statistically significant relationship between payroll and playoff winning percentage.

The longest punt return in 49ers franchise history also stood for 30 years as the longest punt return in the history Monday Night Football. John Taylor's spectacular 95-yard touchdown in the Niners' big win over the Redskins on MNF at Candlestick in 1988

Here’s the thing: Ohtani still goes to Los Angeles, yes But what a cap might do is push another player to sign with Pittsburgh instead of also LA, because LA can’t fit under the cap what Pittsburgh can
Joe Kelly just dropped an anti-cap truth bomb: Even if a salary cap meant every team could only offer Shohei Ohtani $10M, he’d still pick the Dodgers over Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, or Minnesota every single time. Why? Because nobody’s Googling “best places to visit in America” and landing on those cities. Destination + winning culture still wins when the max money is the same for everyone. A cap doesn’t create parity. It just makes the desirable spots even more dominant. The Dodgers would love a salary cap.

Lot of factors here but one is the RSN apocalypse. The model is not coming back -- and down the road more large markets will be impacted, too. The future is more centralized, shared and distributed media content/rights (and with fewer blackouts)

We literally have the Braves' financial statements. If the 2025 Braves spent exactly the same as the 2025 Dodgers, they would have operated at a $118m loss. Add a hypothetical $187m luxury tax bill on top of that, and they would have lost $305m.
Yall are so dumb I swear. We don’t need a cap. Every owner in baseball could easily afford the Dodgers roster and still make a profit. They choose not to and now you want every other team to be penalized for it.

If the Brewers, Rays and Guardians are proof MLB doesn’t need a salary cap because small-market teams can win, they’re also proof that teams don’t need to hand out big contracts to compete. That’s the other side of the argument: if you can win without spending, there’s little incentive to pay players more.

A list of all the left-handed batters to ever go yard off Blake Snell. Bauers/Mitchell first ever to go back-to-back. Only the second time that Snell has allowed two LHP homers in the same game. Absolutely stunning.

Baseball is the best because there’s no clock to run out at the end of the game, you can’t take a knee, you can’t play it safe and not throw the ball. You want the win? You have to throw the pitches and get all 27 outs, you have to face the batters, take the risks, get to the end
