Sticking with my prediction of a gentlemen’s sweep for the Brewers

If revenue disparity is an owner problem, then why when the list of biggest spending MLB teams comes out yearly, the Royals never top the list? It’s always an LA or NY team. Maybe market size is the real problem.

And this may be the last time we see this for a really long time.

It sure seems like when there's a national campaign of racial profiling targeting a certain demographic, it's unpopular with that demographic

If he barreled a few more up, he’s basically Kenny Lofton or Jose Reyes-level game changing player.

I took Forbes' reported team revenues in 2025, subtracted luxury tax payroll in 2026, and then subtracted the average difference (estimates average fixed costs) multiplied by a cost of living factor for each metro area. This, I believe, gives the true "cheap" teams list...

Shifting money from the Dodgers to the Royals is a de facto cap either way. They won’t just have less revenue and spend the same on players. A real system codifies this so there are actual rules.

They didn’t create the problem of large markets and higher revenue being a function of higher population levels near those areas.
The MLB owners have done a frustratingly effective job at framing a salary cap as the only viable solution to “competitive balance” As a reminder, the players should not have to limit their earnings for a problem that a group of 30 billionaires created

TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

You just want to have your cake and eat it too. The Dodgers won’t spend less unless you make them by rule *and* mechanically by media revenue sharing. Same goes for the Pirates spending more.

Any redistributive mechanism means the Dodgers et al pay players less and the Pirates et al play players more. It will have a quashing impact at the top end and a positive impact at the bottom end. But that’s life if, like me, you want the majority of players to be paid more.

If we made an analogy to housing, it’s like the anti-cap folks are denying the reality that a doctor can afford a more expensive house than a cashier. If they instead submitted offers for the same house, the doctor would get it every time. That’s not how MLB should be.

It’s so funny to hear everyone dancing around the idea that the cap and floor system is the sanest way to accomplish the desired result of keeping the delta between top spenders and bottom spenders manageable and curtailing tanking.

It’s really about teen boys vs. teen girls. I would argue the former having a relationship with an adult have fewer long-term deleterious effects than the latter. But romantic relationships should really be within peer groups. Teens with teens, adults with adults. No crossover.

ONT for me today. He asked if I’d rather be patted down in private and I replied “are you buying me a drink first?” He didn’t laugh

I always wonder how Hampton Inn stays in business. Always about $40-50 higher than a Courtyard or HI, but not meaningfully better.

The Dodgers did not earn being in LA any more than the Pirates earned being in Pittsburgh.
Anything I missed? - It doesn't guarantee competitive balance - It's a money grab for owners - Baseball already has parity / money doesn't buy rings - Just do a floor, no cap - It's not worth losing a season - Let the Dodgers spend, they earned it - Caps break up good teams - Capped leagues still have dynasties - LA is a destination and players will take discounts - Bottom teams still won't get stars - It won't fix bad management or ownership - Owners will game it with loopholes - Players make less - Owners are greedy

Outcomes are not guaranteed. What you can guarantee is that large markets don’t just outspend small markets because they can and always will without a cap and floor system. Everything is just silliness.
