1. An implantable device developed by Maity et al. Studied in T2 diabetic mice
2. It provides a controllable way to adjust blood glucose concentration without medications or insulin.
3. The wirelessly powered device (implanted below the skin) catalyzes the conversion of glucose to gluconate, which is then excreted via the kidneys
Basically it converts glucose into a nontoxic substance.
4. This normalizes blood glucose and removes some of the excess caloric load when tested in mice
5. It can be linked to a regular continuous glucose monitor
6. Some weight loss seen too
