Such a fantastic opportunity! A literal dream job, with incredible courses AND learning opportunities AND an amazing team AND all in a sunny part of the world! What’s not to love! A bit jealous I can’t reapply…
We're looking for our next @childhealthqld Simulation Fellow for 2025. Come join an incredible team, making a difference through education and translational simulation. smartjobs.qld.gov.au/jobs/QL… @paedsem @DanHufton

So there’s now been three points in my life I’ve been offered what once would have been a ‘dream job’ and have turned it down for something unknown/riskier. I may be stupid, but here’s to another year in Australia.

1 year ago today I flew half way round the world only planning to be out here 8 months. I miss friends and family but am having an incredible time. I enjoy my job (even in ED!), I’ve made great friends and I’ve found the work life balance people dream of. To Australia 🥂

So I guess I’m an F5 now. There’s not many of us taking a third year out before training but being able to choose the jobs I want, and working where I want has made me a much happier person and has kept me interested in medicine. Here’s to another year of coasting through life🥂

Excited to receive my first covid vaccine today. Very slick process by Queensland health. Here’s hoping the world might open up soon.

BEER. FACE. TASTE - A public health message we can all get behind. In all seriousness though, stay safe, think hands, face & space, and let's get through this (however long it takes) so we can all get back to the pub and enjoy a pint with friends. Cheers to you @RoostersBrewCo

In a week where I’ve started to actually enjoy my job, got back to teaching medical students, and in discussion about MedEd projects, I’m very happy to find out (a couple of months late) that I have been granted Fellowship of the HEA.

I’m not sure why teaching US guided peripheral IV access is not yet compulsory in medical schools so here’s #12tips we’ve developed for integrating these skills into an undergraduate medical curriculum #MedEd

Quarantine day 1: Asymptomatically covid positive. Here I am proving that the Aussie quarantine system works!

Three cancelled flights, Two (and a bit) months late, One English lockdown starting BUT..... I have FINALLY MADE IT TO AUSTRALIA. Not quite the circumstances I envisaged going in but something I’ve always wanted to do. Fingers crossed I don’t go stir crazy in quarantine.

I think 4 weeks of nights+ 7 months of covid angst + leaving family/NHS in a pandemic guilt + moving to the other side of the world on my own fear + disbelief my flight might actually go ahead has all caught up with me so I may have eaten a whole selection box to myself for lunch

A bird pooed on my face today and I wasn’t even traumatised because honestly, I need the luck.

Road2Resus - a highlight of my TF year. Sad that we were unable to present our work at ASME conference but great to have our abstract published in @ClinicalTeacher supplement.
